Reviews of Carson Tahoe Behavioral Health
"I've been 4 times for my PTSD, severe anxiety, sleep deprivation and a medical/mental check up. If your needing a clinic like this I recommend it. There is a therapy class/meeting every few days, a Dr and a therapy specialist to help you connect to help outside of the clinic in your area most days. 3 full meals that you select from a daily menu. It's really easy, you just circle and mark what you want that's available and that's your meals for the next day. Plus there is snacks available such as cereal, jello, salads, ensure protein drinks and other options. The rooms are nice and clean with a shower. Medical beds are available if needed. Smoke breaks are available. Your stay is 10+ days at minimum."
"I have mixed feelings about BHS. I think it's a good place for people with moderate mental health issues. But for those with severe issues like myself, it's not adequate at all. They have one type of therapy (that I'm aware of) which is called "acceptance therapy". It just isn't practical for everyone. It doesn't address many issues mentally ill people face. The nurses and techs, like most facilities range from amazing to rude and neglectful. There was an elderly gentleman that had Alzheimer's/dementia and was being ignored by the nurses and techs one night. That caused him to bang on a tray and yell all night long waking me up around 8 times. It was ridiculous. And when I complained to Nurse Andrea I was told to mind my business. Their lack of caring for the gentleman became my business when it wakes me up all night and stresses me out. But nurses and techs like Lisa, Keeley, Xaviar, Marlow, Jim, Jennifer, Yessi ,(sp?) were all amazing. They were patient, kind and compassionate at all times. They made you feel comfortable. Dr V the psychiatrist was someone I basically talked to for less than 5 min in the morning. When I was there in 2020 I had gotten a bad infection in my abdomen. Said I was uncomfortable being discharged until I saw a hospitalist. Still demanded I leave. Thankfully, the next morning my temp dropped to 95° showing I was experiencing hypothermic sepsis. I left in an ambulance to the hospital where I'd spend the next 2 months. The last time I was there Dr V informed me that Medicaid only pays for 5 days of treatment. He even showed me a calendar and said, "You came on this day and this is day 5." But then would tell me not to leave unless I was ready as it made things harder for him for me to come back. Very confusing. Reading some of the notes by nurses kind of disturbed me due to them being so inaccurate. Like, it was said I stated "I feel spectacular". Never said anything remotely close to that. I never even use that word. I said I felt more hopeful. That's a far cry from "spectacular". But I don't think the inaccuracies was malicious. So I have mixed feeling about my treatment. BHS gave me a safe place to reassess my thoughts and plans that just wasn't working for me. And it was really nice being around so many compassionate and caring people. Now I'm reaching out to my community, churches and groups that deal with grief and such. Hoping that will change how I see the world and my place in it."
"Caitlyn M found a wallet in the gas station right next door and did EVERYTHING in her power to make sure it got back to the right hands. I've never been to the this facility but cannot express the level of gratitude I felt today hearing that news. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH CAITLYN ❤"
"I was told I could bring my daughter in anytime and this would be the best way to get her admitted. I drove an hour and a half, get there and a nurse gets her to come on. Another nurse showed up and said they were full. Heartbroken.. I have a daughter alone with no phone or money at night in Carson City. Thanks for the letdown Carson Tahoe. The nurse could have been more proactive. I just stood there crying.. watching this unfold."
"Been here twice. For years did the AA shuffle. Wanting to die. And then I found gold. Totally surrendered to the treatment. Am now in proper medications, and practice what learned there daily. Amazing. I'm so very grateful."
