"The day shift are lovely can't speak for all but the ones that helped my dad definitely did care but sadly the overnight really need to be monitored or atleast get a therapist or something they're very rude to patients and seem to do unnecessary things because they have the power to"
"Please do not trust this place with your loved ones. It is disgusting. The rooms have never been cleaned and the nurses know nothing about the patients needs."
"Writing this review has been difficult for me, but I hope that sharing my experience can help others make better choices. My sister's stay at Horizon was marked by more downfalls than ups, leading to a deep sense of disappointment. The care and oversight at this facility seemed alarmingly inadequate. My sister, who has a history of brain bleed, managed to dislodge her feeding tube and trach on multiple occasions and even fell once. This, I'm convinced, has worsened her cognitive health. Instead of getting a clear explanation, the accounts I received were misleading and didn't align with my sister's apparent bruises. Most of the staff at Horizon didn't meet my expectations. One CNA, Whitney, was particularly harsh with my sister. It seemed as though she had her preferred patients, and if you weren't one of them, she was noticeably hostile. I frequently noticed blood in the suctioning cup from my sister’s trach, a sight that was especially common after Whitney's shifts. This is simply unacceptable. Then there was Bernice, a nurse who would often skip her shifts, leaving the charge nurse to cover for her. Even when present, Bernice was hard to find. Despite her name listed as my sister's assigned nurse, she'd claim that another nurse, Drexel, was in charge. This was clearly a staffing issue. Some nurses had a disconcerting habit of questioning my concerns and observations, which felt like gaslighting. This unprofessional behavior caused significant stress and frustration. Despite these disappointments, I want to recognize a few individuals who stood out for their compassion. Joyce, Alice, Naomi, Brianna, Connie, Terry, and Gloria were rays of hope, offering kindness and understanding during this trying period. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. Sadly, this lack of empathy wasn't restricted to the lower ranks. The charge nurse, Kevin, often came across as unsympathetic and impatient, and his suggestions felt irrelevant and dismissive. Dr. Rahman, my sister's assigned doctor, was a particular letdown. His brief "check-ins" involved a hasty "she's okay" before he dashed out of the room, leaving no space for me to discuss my sister's condition or ask questions. It was only when I made significant efforts to 'catch' him that he would engage in a more meaningful conversation. It's disheartening to think family members must strive so hard for attention during such difficult times. I understand that everyone's busy, but the evident understaffing at this facility led to inadequate patient monitoring. This lapse in staffing has resulted in my sister returning to the ER, facing another potential concussion. On a brighter note, there were other clinicians who were more engaged and informative than Dr. Rahman. Their input was invaluable, and I'm grateful for it. In conclusion, while there were a few kind-hearted individuals at Horizon, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. I strongly urge the management to take this feedback to heart and make necessary changes to enhance patient care and communication."
"My father was recently a patient here. He was transferred to horizon from the hospital to live out the short time he had left with us. From the moment he arrived he was treated with the utmost respect and given exceptional care from all of the staff. They were available at all times to answer all of our questions regarding his health. They stayed in constant contact with us every step of the way and made the last few weeks of my amazing fathers life as comfortable as possible. They paid close attention to my father and helped him transition as he passed. I would like to especially thank nurse Judy for being so kind to us in this hard time. I would also like to thank the entire staff at Horizon for the exceptional care you gave my father. From the bottom of my heart ❤️ Thank you!"
"I have extremely high standards when it comes to services and especially a health facility for one of my parents. The staff was extremely attentive to ensure my father was well taken care of. They were also fantastic with keeping me informed about everything that was going on with him. I really felt as though my father got one on one care while he was there. The head nurse Judy was phenomenal through out this entire process. Thank you for helping my father!"
