"This museum beats anything I've seen in my life. Visiting this beet museum has fully transformed my life. I now have roots in the marvel of beet farming. Did you know that beets need 2-3 inches and possibly up to 12 in between spaces for growth? I didn't! So fascinating. And sugar beets are even better than regular beets! Sugarbeets are 18% sucrose, hence the name - in fact, 57% of domestically produced sugar comes from sugar beets! The sucrose molecules found in sugar beets are exactly the same as the sucrose found in your sugar bowl. Beets are also an excellent source of folate, and also contain high amounts of vitamin C and potassium. I now make sure to eat sugar beets for my daily nutrition - hope I don't get diabetes! It runs in my family, so I'm genetically predisposed. That reminds me of another interesting point - the genetic modification of sugar beet crops, and their environmental benefits. Genetic modifications mean that farmers have to use fewer chemicals and pesticides to control weeds and pests, which is the ideal situation for both farmers and the environment. Sugar beets are a very labour-intensive crop and require constant care, making it a perfect career path for someone who needs to keep their hands busy (a good way to keep out of trouble). In conclusion: beets are a cool season vegetable, but to me, beets are always cool!"
