"I had an outstanding dining experience at Makai Island Grill! The Chicken Katsu was perfectly crispy, paired harmoniously with flavorful rice and corn. The Mochiko Chicken was a delightful surprise, adding a unique and delicious twist to our meal. The attentive service and inviting ambiance made our visit truly memorable. "The atmosphere was amazing (they had the Polynesian cultural center's canoe pageant on the tv - I love PCC) And the employees were super sweet.. but the place was empty, and they had heaps of chicken katsu and bbq chicken sitting there like there was an anticipation of a rush. We had been looking forward to coming here for months - we had heard good things!! But the food did not live up to anything we had heard. The kalua pork was not even edible- we ended up wasting what we took a picture of. The poke was "horrible" (I don't eat poke, but my family loves raw fish - I'm going off of their option) and the Mac salad was unusual. Definitely not a family favorite. Maybe our expectations were too high? But this local girl won't be going back. Growing up in the north shore, I guess I was just hoping for a taste of home and was disappointed."

"Food was incredibly cold it’s like frozen and heated. The distance is not even ten minutes away from my house. The katsu was not fresh you don’t see the grain of the chicken.. it’s frozen. No sauce provided. The food ended up in trash."
