"Bills preventative care as non preventative, something that should've been covered 100% by my insurance ended up being billed to me at over $2000 dollars, they never answer your messages on MyChart and never call you back like they say they will. I've now had to bring my insurance broker into it to try to get it fixed and will most likely be sending in a complaint to the California department of Insurance."
"Barton Health is an extremely unprofessional healthcare provider, with a customer service & billing department that seriously pushes various health and insurance related laws. Barton misbilled my preventative care visit as non-preventative. Upon trying to resolve the issue, I was redirected three times to various departments, and spoke to different representatives who were not only incompetent but also directly lied to me about what they were seeing on my billing and medical records. They also consistently refused to tell my partner how much his physical therapy appointment would cost no matter how many times he asked, but continued to pressure him into booking an additional appointment for a minor ailment. The bill was close to $1,000 for a 1 hour appointment, not covered by insurance. My advice: Stay away from Barton. Unless you have a medical emergency that needs to be treated immediately locally, find a non-Barton provider even if they are a further drive away. My promise: I will continue to fight my battle with Barton, not only for myself, but for the folks who do not have the time or means to push back against the mistreatments by Barton that they have surely been dealt. Update: Notice the representative below didn't even take the time to give me a functioning phone number. Barton does not want to help you. I did find the functioning phone number on the many poor reviews that were below mine, and have called them. I will continue to update with what happens (I do not suspect it will be happy updates)."
"I am extremely disappointed in my experience with Barton. I went to the Stateline location for urgent care and physical therapy after a low-complexity rolled ankle and I am walking away with a nearly $5,000 bill. Never once did the staff let me know that the pricing was over $500 for only 30 minutes - the lack of transparency is appalling and disgraceful. IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF PHYSICAL THERAPY please look into alternative practices in the Tahoe area that actually charge standard pricing."
"Separated my shoulder skiing. They 'set it' on the mountain, by applying the lightest amount of pressure to put it back in place. Luckily, I denied going to the hospital because I did not want to pay some ridiculous amount of money. Well I was still charged over $500 for about 5 minutes of attention. The staff was very friendly. Upon applying for financial assistance, they want to see an invasive amount of information. (Took them 3 weeks to respond after multiple emails and voicemails left) My experience reflects the reviews of others. By the time you encounter Barton Health, it will be too late, and you will have no choice. If the injury is minor, better off going to another hospital."
"The worst hospital experience I have ever had, hands down. Over $2,500 for a CT scan (after "discount") when I received maybe 10 minutes of attention from hospital staff, including the scan. Billing department/financial aid service could not have been more unhelpful."
