About the Business
The Billingsley School of Music & Arts (BSOMA) is a transformative institution located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Our mission is to empower youth with a high-quality urban music education experience that fosters artistic skills and behaviors essential for success in both life and a career in the arts.
Traditional music lessons can be expensive and may not reflect the cultural experiences of our students. At BSOMA, our dedicated music mentors provide discounted lessons to help students develop a deep love and appreciation for the arts. Our programs also create original music groups and provide performance opportunities around the world.
Led by founder and Executive Director David Billingsley, a licensed music educator and accomplished artist, BSOMA offers a range of high-quality, in-school and after-school music education programs for students in grades K-12.
We are currently seeking talented youth in grades 7-12 to collaborate on creating albums, performances, and touring opportunities. To apply, submit a 2-minute video audition link to [email protected] and start your artistic journey with us.
In addition to our regular programs, BSOMA also offers FREE childhood lessons and instruments to 10 students who have lost their parents to gun violence, police brutality, or sudden unexpected death. We are committed to supporting these students throughout their entire childhood into adulthood.
Our professional Teaching Artists bring a wealth of experience and creativity to our community, offering workshops, master classes, and performances in a variety of artistic disciplines including Funk, Rap, Soul, Dance, Spoken Word, Acting, and Visual Art.
