"Lovely wilderness 35 miles west of Little Rock. Easily accessible from numerous good quality roads. The area was logged in the past and therefore much of the tree population is pine. Rocky ridges and numerous small creeks with small waterfalls fill the valleys."

"Flatside Pinacle Mountain near Perryville is a great afternoon hike The hike up Flatside Pinacle Mountain in Ouachita National Forest is a great way to get the kids outside away from screens and explore some rough primal country. Climbing the mountain its hard to imagine what lies on top. Even though it's not a long hike, less than half a mile, anyone not used to mountains may have to stop and catch their breath, but once you arrive, the view is breathtaking. There are rocky craigs, thousands of acres of forest and other nearby knobs poking through the tree canopy. Arkansas mountains really make me think about the pioneers settling this country, living miles from their nearest neighbors. Climbing Flatside Pinacle takes work. Imagine what it was like getting in and out when the only roads were buffalo trails and the nearest town was a two day trip. Our ancestors were a tough and hearty bunch."

Thank you to our forefathers who had the forethought to set aside roughly 20,000 Acres as pristine National Wilderness never to be bisted and not paved or even roaded so that it would remain a true wilderness"

"This was a really cool place! I had an awesome hike here. It wasn't too difficult, it was peaceful, clean, and gorgeous. Forked mountain was awesome to see, and a really interesting place. There are a lot of trees out there that have been hit by lightning which makes for a pretty cool sight."
