"Went after a heavy rain and followed the creek all the way to the waterfall. Amazing view at the waterfall, but it's quite an elevation drop to get there. The hike back was technical and kind of difficult on the way back up, not too hard, but be prepared for a steep hike back up."
"Very remote and rugged hike. Not too long, but consequential drops. No cell phone service and storms have obstructed the trail in multiple places. A winter hike for sure."
"This is a small area for parking to hike the volunteer trail into Bear Creek Canyon. The trail is marked by orange tape when we were there on early Feb. 2021. The trail is not easily visible in some places due to the leaves that are still on the forest floor. Once you make the 1-mile trek into the canyon there are at least 5 waterfalls within a few hundred yards of each other along Bear Creek. I say at least 5 because we photographed a 6th coming off the bluff from above, but not sure if it has water flow all the time. The waterfalls are beautiful when the water is running. I recommend using a GPS as this is not a well traveled trail and there are no trail markings other than the marking tape that volunteers have tied around trees. My GPS said it was a 600' elevation change, so the trip out is quite strenuous. It is almost all uphill, so be sure and take plenty of breaks and have enough water when you go."
