Reviews of Smith Creek Preserve Trailhead
"Someone needs to maintain the trails. To many down trees blocking the trails. If you have an organization responsible for the area they need to do there job. The trees have been down for some time because the trails clearly go around all the trees."
"The parking area is small, so get there early. The hike from the parking area is downhill. When you get to a fork in the trail there is a sign for Elise Falls. This is a steep downhill hike until you reach Smith Creek. Once you reach the creek you'll need to cross and Elise Falls will be in back of a small cut in the bluff on the opposite side of the creek. You can continue along this trail and loop back to the main trail. This is probably an easier option than the uphill battle we took on to climb the trail back out."
"Great place to hike in the wet season so the waterfalls are active. There's a few different trails you can experience but there is abundant wildlife and scenery to enjoy at anytime."
"***warning: ticks!!!***We went on a hike in early May 2021, went through Elise Fall, the lower trail and the main trial with our 2 dogs. Upon returning, we found ticks on both of our dogs (smaller dog had 10 ticks, and our big one had 5) and most horrifyingly was we found ticks on our bodies, too! The scenery is nice but parts of the path are covered in dense tall grass, so be warned!!"
"Parking area is small and fills up fast. If your knees are not in the best shape, either steer clear of this hike or invest in trekking poles. The start to this hike is a straight decent with some plateaus along the way. After that, it's mostly level with a couple small hills. The creek is beautiful and there are some really cool rock formations as well. Some folks were even plying in the clear water to cool off. Don't forget the bug spray! Also, to get out you have to go back up the hill you came down. Happy trails!"
