Reviews of North Dakota State College of Science
"I went here for a semester my freshman year and I wouldn't recommend it. Since it is a small school your opportunities are extremely limited. There are very few clubs with most not being operational because not there isn't enough students. I would try to join clubs but would get turned down because no one was in them. I also felt like there was little support for any incoming freshman. Starting college away from family and being cut of from them due to bad winter conditions was stressful and adjusting and integrating was difficult when you don't know anyone. Also because this is 2-year, half of the student body will be gone when your done by spring. The options you have for making friends are very limited and the time you spend with them is extremely short. This put lots of pressure on me to try to make friends immediately, but the stress was to much and I ended up being alone in the end, which made the other problems of that come with college life worse. There is a therapist and she's great but it unfortunately wasn't enough. The four-ish months I spent here nothing but a cold, stressful, lonely, miserable experience. Overall I give this college a 2-star. Not everything was negative which is why this isn't a one star review, but so much could have been better. Hopefully they can make changes later on, but I don't know what those would look like."
"The online programs are a joke. Some of the answers on the answer sheets are the wrong answer for the question being asked. You can't get ahold of anyone via phone call. Emails aren't always very clear and often times it seems like they arent very organized because I get irrelevant information directed towards me. After finishing online courses it can take weeks to get an emailed certificate of completion, which sucks when you're trying to get reimbursed by your company and need proof of completion or youre trying ro get it done and sent to the state board to test out. I find it interesting that this is the only school and program accepted by the state board in ND. Someone must be related in the school and at the state electrical board. The program may be better in person but online.. it's a waste of time and money. The credits arent even transfereable ro any other schools. You'd think with the shortage of journeymen and to attract people to a state that no one wants to live in they would do better. Apparently since they have a monopoly on this system they don't need to try at all. Can't wait to be done here and with the state of ND so I can actually move somewhere that has better programs and more intelligent people."
"It’s a mediocre school I’d give it 4 stars usually but while attending this school they expect assignments to be done with some of the slowest wifi someone could provide. They cheap out on the most important thing for a college campus."
"They like to take your money but are not there to help you! Trying to go through the books for the electrical apprenticeship, the calculations on some chapters are tough and could use some help but this college does help! They help you till you give them money and nothing after that!!! Very disappointed trying to get these books done by myself! NDSCS is a joke! If only North Dakota had a different apprenticeship program besides this waste of space college!!!!!"
"Great people and great opportunities. A school based on relationships geared toward helping students on their path to success. Strong alumni network."
