Reviews of Edelweiss Pub
"A taste of Europe in Reno. I took an Austrian goulash with a glass of wine, a coffee with the famous Apple Strudel. It was a very pleasant dinner on the terrace. The goulash taste was well balanced between braised beef (soft) and smoked pepper. Apple strudel is a light dessert I recommend, perfectly cooked with a good dose of cinnamon and sugar. Excellent service, friendly and good advice. I hope to be able to taste other dishes before returning to France."
"Excellent small restaurant in the Summit mall. Went on a Sunday night, so it was pretty quiet, and service was fantastic. Can't say enough about the food. We got 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and apple strudel. Everything was awesome. It's so nice to be able to get good quality Austrian/Hungarian/Swiss/German food nearby. Their beer selection is a good mix of local and import beers and the drink menu looks enticing. Will definitely be back soon!"
"The wife and I decided to try Edelweiss Pub for the German/Austrian food. Going midweek and early we often find less crowds and better seating. Edelweiss is definitely quaint. Fake animal skins adorn the bench seats. The walls are papered with edelweiss flowers. There is a large bar centered on the back wall. I was a bit chilled because when the door opened cold air streamed in. I ordered a schnitzel with fries. I really enjoyed the linginberry jam included on the plate. I did not truly enjoy the schnitzel itself. In my mind and on my palette, it was left in the dryer a minute or two too long. There were bits of burnt edges and the meat itself was a touch hard on the chew. The wife ordered goulash with spatzel. She loved the goulash but found the spatzel a bit dry. Fortunately there was enough goulash sauce to cover. I would recommend the small plate asperagus. Wonder flavors and perfectly prepared."
"Tonight was my partner and I’s first time dining at Edelweiss. We were really excited as we both enjoy German and Austrian fair, and I’ve heard from a couple of colleagues that it’s worth going to try. We walked in and were immediately immersed: the gorgeous custom wallpaper, the smell of the flowers, and the sound of traditional Austrian music. Think less “Sound of Music” and more “Eurovision.” We were seated promptly, and given our choice of tables. We chose to sit at a booth near their outdoor patio. The faux fur throw on the seat made the bench a lot more comfortable. Our server, Serena, greeted us eagerly and was very personable and attentive. I chose a locally sourced beer that would pair well with our meal, a Schüssboom Heweifezen. The Potato Salad was my favorite, a European twist on this staple American classic with thinly sliced potatoes drizzled in dressing with pickled onions. Our appetizer came out quickly, followed appropriately by our entrees once we’d finished with the potato salad, a very reasonable turn around time to enhance the relaxed atmosphere. My partner ordered the schnitzel and his only complaint to an otherwise textbook dish was he wanted a dipping sauce, such as curry ketchup, to accompany the shoestring fries. I ordered the Honey Bear pizza, and the spicy peppers balanced the creaminess of the cheese and the sweetness of the honey beautifully. We also took another pizza to take home to my mother, who wanted to join us and couldn’t She requested Der Waldpilz and asked that they add chicken, which our server happily said wouldn’t be a problem. We got all the way home and sadly found out it was forgotten. We ordered two desserts to bring home: the apple strudel and the chocolate torte. The apple strudel was clearly the winner of the two, moist and flavorful, well seasoned with crisp pastry and tender apples. The chocolate torte, while delicious and well made was very sweet. I say that as a former pastry chef who has a high tolerance for sweet things. Definitely need to try that with an espresso. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, and the rest of the staff was very friendly and amicable. I did notice they were lacking a host or busser who could help service on the floor preparing tables, clearing dishes, and directing guests to ready tables, as well as running food. Additionally, while the service was good and the food was pleasant, we found the ticket cost to be a touch expensive. While the portions were good, the individual plate cost was a bit high. For ~$25 we anticipated an American sized portion, and while my partner and I did share our entrees, we were left gently underwhelmed. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and we’d love to come back. We see there’s room for growth and that the restaurant is a labor of love for the family that runs it. Be prepared for a more casual atmosphere, and remember all small business start somewhere."
"Overall: C be prepared to WAIT & limited seating Layout & decor: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Customer service: ⭐️⭐️ Timeliness: ⭐️ Bathroom: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review: new business located at the former Noble Pie Parlor. Portion sizes are decent, a little on the pricey side for entrees. Staff seem very new & unseasoned. Very slow to get food out the kitchen & even worse so when you consider how limited the seating is here. They really need better seating & much faster TAT for food. The benches on the wall where you sit at the tables is made of sheet metal & not comfy for older folks is my thought. The salzberg sundae was my favorite offering from them. They focus on the drinks & it shows. Maybe they’ll get faster at serving their food & better wait staff."
