"If you want a company that doesn’t care about for you, this is the perfect place! They will claim they are downsizing after 2 weeks of hiring and rob your last paycheck. All of their trucks are junk and they will not fix any issues. Godspeed if you decide to take this job. You’ve been warned"
"Ignore the review from Joe Richey considering he’s their main recruiter. Pathetic they are resorting to office employees to give them good reviews. From the cocky disappointment to his father owner to the midget from safety to the room temp IQ fleet manager this was the most unorganized company I’ve worked for. They will lay you off for absolutely no reason and leave you stranded in Fargo. All for the great pay of 1400 a week before taxes. Better off going to K&B or swift or even CRST. Enjoy your 800,000 mile truck with driver facing cameras if you do decide to go. Other reviews are correct. They won’t give you your last check. By far the most crooked company in the industry. Thanks for taking 300 from me for a car rental you never actually got me."
"Great Plains is truly amazing! They care about all their employees and treat drivers with the respect that is hard to find in this industry. The company is always striving to do better. There is constant communication between ownership and drivers on how we can make the company better today, tomorrow and for the future. Mike H has a vision for the company and strives everyday to reach those goals. He nor any other office staff will hide anything from employees. You want to know the companies profits from last quarter they will go over it with you. You want to know how much you made the company last week, they will send you a report. I was truly shocked when I got assigned my truck it was a brand new MACK. I know it was more luck than anything but the fact that they are willing to give new hires new trucks is something you really don't hear about. Joe in recruiting is the MAN. He will answer any question you have 100% truthful. He is always there for you even after your hired. He has even answered me on the weekends when nobody else was avaliable. Cody M is an amazing driver manager. He is always there to answer questions and if he doesn't have the answer he is very prompt in telling you who to ask or finding out the answers for you. He will do everything in his power to make sure you are home when you scheduled your hometime. Great plains does not beat around the bush on anything. They lay out what they expect of you in the very beginning, you follow those rules and policies and you will be good. I do not find forced dispatch a bad thing here. You get paid salary, they DO NOT force you to drive in weather that we, the drivers, find unsafe. They are 100% dedicated to their drivers safety. When dispatched they give you more than enough time to make your appointment. It can be anywhere from a couple hours to a days worth of cushion. Which is not a bad thing because you're getting paid requardless. They do run mostly recap but as I stated there can be times where you will get a significant downtime just due to warehouse scheduling. If you're looking for a company that pays well, cares about their drivers, is upfront and honest then come to Great Plains, where you will feel like a part of the team, not a truck number."
"Family time is important to Great Plains. My husband had a truck breakdown on the way to home time and they (Samantha and whomever she got permissions from) got him home on time with an Uber and a different truck because it was important to Great Plains that he get home the same time as me. We both work here and are grateful for it. One of the head honchos worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so other officer personnel could have that time off. The stability of a salary-based company with a good business plan is wonderful in today’s economy and the fact that Great Plains takes care of their trucks and trailers is also to be commended…but family time, that’s the kicker! Feeling blessed in a blizzard on Jesus’ birthday at Great Plains Transport."
