"Short story - Douglas Beltman cancelled our home insurance policy because we moved our vehicle to Esurance. Long Story - After buying our car Farmers couldn't match the rate that Esurance was giving us. I called to cancel our policy and had a long conversation with Doug telling him that I would like to stay with him because I like to support local business. While on the phone he gave me a rate that was actually a few bucks better than Esurance but when I came into the office his assistant could not get the same rate. That happened twice before he did something seriously petty -- He came by my house and nit-picked reasons why he was able to cancel our homeowner's policy prematurely. (The reason was because a very small part of our siding was rotting and a problem with a power line that was hanging too low) This caused me to have to pay about $800 more when I renewed with another company due to the fact that I'd made a claim once while being his client. All in all I'm really upset because if I had not spent the extra time talking to him and trying to stay with him none of this would have happened."
