"Hands down this has been the worst experience with an Insurance provider I have ever experienced. It is 25 days into 2024 and I cannot imagine having to deal with this company for the entire year. All I needed was a letter of proof that a provider was in-network. It should not have taken several weeks, four different Aetna Employees and several hours on the phone to have this figured out. The Aetna website for finding care is the worst I've ever seen. I cannot fathom the possible reason this company should continue to exist. I genuinely hope it goes bankrupt."
"FIX YOUR SYSTEM!!!!! I pay every month for your terrible coverage, and I go to the doctors office where sometimes your system says I am a member and other times it doesn’t. This is a software glitch, should be an ease and not costly fix on your end. … unless … this is intentional bug and you are making money off members failing to get member coverage. If this happens again at my next prescription, office visit, flu shot, etc, I will report"
"I was told my provider was in network. It wasn’t until after I got the bills for an MRI and X-ray that I was informed she isn’t, in fact, in network. I have called serval times since January (it is now the end of June) to inquire on the status of the appeal, being told over and over “rest assured we will call you as soon as we have the results of the appeal.” Well now the hospital is calling me because they want their money as it has been MONTHS. I called again today and after sitting on hold for over 45 minutes, I was told there was no appeal filed. She said she would help me file one and THEN I WAS HUNG UP ON. After all that time on hold. Was hoping I’d get a call back but nope. Guess I’ll have to call again and do it all over for the 100th time. To say I’m irate is an under statement. Biggest joke of an insurance company there is. I wish my employer offered other options. Steer clear from them if at all possible."
"Had them through qn employer and they cancelled my policy without informing me and still took premiums from my check. My employer did nothing to correct this and this company laughed qll the way to the bank. Worst of all, I found out while hospitalized and am stuck with the debt as all legal recourse failed. Screw you Aetna, you ruined my life."
"Aetna partners with predatory companies in order to the provide services you need. You may end up being forced into accounts that will cost you your savings. I saved money in a HSA while employed with our federal government. I left the money in the account when I left the federal government to save in case of emergency healthcare expenses. Aetna placed that money with Pay Flex. I was given no choice of who could hold the funds placed there from my employer and payroll deductions. I was deployed overseas for a year with the National Guard. I returned home to find that my account was forfeited because I did not log in frequently enough and did not respond to mail sent to my home. They never attempted to email or call me at the contacts listed on the account, if they did, I would have responded despite being overseas. So after a month of fighting with them over the phone they reinstated the account. I looked closer to find that they have began charging me $5 per month for monthly maintenance of an online account. That racked up $25 dollars in fees before I closed the account to move it to another organization with no fees. They also charged $25 to close my account. Overall they charged $50 in maintenance and closing fees in 2020 which was more than all of the interest I had earned since I opened the account in 2011. PayFlex charged me over $130 in fees since they received the account from Aetna. Aetna's actions and business parters are predatory. I am curious if Aetna received any kickbacks from "placing" account with these scam companies. Sick."
