"I moved into the Mendota in July, and I love love my apartment. I have a two bedroom with a den, one full bath, one half. There is an elevator for those of us with bad knees and storage right next to your apartment. Washing machines are available; however, there is also a laundry room. I wanted a washing machine until I read the reviews on the washer/dryer all in one. Once I read. the reviews, I decided it was best to use the laundry room. Another thing with having the washer/dryer all in one is that it doesn't fit well in the space, and about 5 inches sticks out onto the walkway of your apartment. It isn't worth the $75 per month that is charged. Yes, you are charged for the washer/dryer, which in my search for an apartment, was included in the rent. The other thing I love about living at The Mendota is the diversity of tenants who live in the building. It is a mishmash of ages, ethnicities, and children....it is great to live among diversity. As with anywhere you live, some people are very friendly, and others are not. There is an upgraded gym that includes a brand-new Pelaton machine and an indoor pool. All is kept up nicely. The building is kept clean. I hear the vacuum cleaner going and see the building being cleaned at least twice per week. For those with a dog...a cute little open space was created so the dog can run around....my dog loves it. A package room was also just created, which is great. There is also a garage, also $75 per month. It, too, is maintained clean, and there is lighting in the garage which is a positive. As far as shopping....you can't beat it....you are not far from Robert St., which has almost every type of store possible. The owner of the building gave me the tour, and his passion for the property sold me on renting. He is charming and very friendly. If it were not for Peter, the owner, I probably would not have rented the apartment. His excitement was infectious. The one thing I will say that I am still not sure of is the two individuals who are the building manager and assistant manager. Their inexperience is obvious, and they are cordial but not friendly. I would venture to say they are introverts. While I recognize that we all have to start our careers somewhere, having two individuals that appear inexperienced overseeing what is being promoted as luxury apartments works for me. Time will tell. The office hours are posted as 9-6; however, sometimes, they are gone before 6. I know there are other buildings they oversee, and perhaps that is where they are.... then I would suggest putting a sign on the door letting the tenants know that. There are times the door is closed in the middle of the day, and you are not sure whether someone is there or not. Another suggestion is to put a sign on the door letting the tenants know that you will return or if you are not....If the hours are 9-6 and you aren't there, put a sign on the door......it is the professional thing to do. The individual I have spoken with from the management company, 10th Floor Brokers (Joel), seems like a very nice person and easy to talk with. If you relay concerns, he is great at returning your call and trying to remedy them. The maintenance crew is outstanding. They, too, are responsive to the issues of tenants and are personable. Finally, there are cameras all over the building, which helps those of us who live alone feel safe or as safe as one can be in this day and age. Overall, I am enjoying living at The Mendota."

"My experience living at the Mendota has not been bad however, with the large rent increases it has made it difficult to stay. I moved here because of location and the rent was fair but in 4 years my rent has increased to about $500 more a month. I planned to stay here long term but will be looking for someplace else to move. For an older apartment building I thought they had been kept up pretty well but even with some cosmetic updating in the common areas I don't think Justifies for rent increases like they have been. I live in a one bedroom apartment that has not been updated but my rent was increased to an updated apartments rent. So it comes down to cost which is the only gripe that I have personally living at the Mendota."

"Great job fixing the shower once requested. Shower works amazing! I didn't think I should have to clean up after the work tho. The tubs still not entirely clean, maybe scrached up? And there was spots of caulk on the floor. Those did come up with a razor blade just fine tho."

"LOVE this apartment. The management has been very helpful with any questions I had when I moved in. The workout center is so nice- I save money each month by no longer paying a gym fee. The pool is nice too, I like to swim laps there. Overall wonderful place to live- I don’t see myself living anywhere else!!"

"if i could give it zero stars i would. ive lived her previously and decided to move back last year because of the amazing relationship i had with the landlord/manager Kim. Kim has since left the property because the owner decided to go with a less experienced management company. At one of the owners properties they have had 4 management companies in 5 years. Seems a little suspect. Since kim has left the place has gone down hill. They did some minor renovations in the common spaces of the building and decided to raise my rent $175 in the middle of a pandemic and now i have decided to move out. The new manager has no idea what common decency is or how to treat the residents. She is very rude and short with people. Kim used to go out of her way to help the residents and was always available for us. She truly cared and this new company has shown that they are just looking to make money and do not care about their tenants. There have been numerous plumbing issues in the building and every other week the water is being turned off for repairs, but still nothing has been fixed. I also noticed on their website that they are advertising amenities that are not available yet. Like washers and dryers in units, a dog walk, dog bath, patio/ grilling area- none of this is available. Because of the plumbing issues they are unable to put washers and dryers in units and are just crediting peoples laundry cards every month to make up for it. No amount can make up for having your own private w/d. They have alot of apartments open right now because the price is not worth it. Ill be moving a few miles away where i will be getting a full size washer/dryer, central air, an outdoor pool and much more for less rent. There are so many better options in the area. The pictures on their website arent even of this building, they must be stock photos. So deceiving. ANd so much false advertising going on. dog run, dog wash, grills, and a fire pit via Apartments.com- none of this is available right now although it says that it is."
