"Very often hobos sleep in the lobby. DON'T send any packages here, every package I have sent here has been stolen (I have ordered 4 things online and had them mailed here... Each time they were stolen within 1-2 hours). Many other people in the apartment have their packages stolen every single day! My car was raided in the parking garage and I had stuff stolen (It's a closed off / indoor garage in the basement that you have to have a contract for). I have heard that other people's cars have been raided. There has been multiple times that human urine and or feces has been found in the lobby / stairwell. There is NO security staff (the apartment hires an independent contracting firm for security, but their security rarely if ever comes by the building). The apartments themselves are just ok. The rent is just ok. If you can, live anywhere else. This building is NOT!!! a safe, clean, or acceptable place to live. Update: 4 more cars in the parking garage had their windows smashed in and raided. Plus 2 other cars have been stolen. Keep in mind this is supposed to be a secure parking garage that you have to pay for."
"This place has been an experience far from what any tenant should ever have to endure. I have lived her for more than 2 years and it keeps getting worse. The issues here are not only persistent but seem to be deep-rooted, with security being a major concern that remains unaddressed. First and foremost, the security at this complex is basically non-existent. Rating it a 0/10 isn't an exaggeration but a grim reality. Despite the costly parking fees, the garage has become a haven for break-ins, with two major incidents occurring in less than a year. Initially, the culprits targeted unlocked vehicles, but the situation escalated dramatically with four cars having their windows smashed in a more recent spree. Disturbingly, when victims sought help, they were informed that the surveillance cameras 'saw nothing', which raises serious questions about the effectiveness and management of these supposed security measures. Moreover, the parking garage isn't the only hotspot for criminal activities. The apartment complex has become infamous for package thefts. Despite my optimism for the new LUXER package system, it barely made a dent in preventing thefts, as delivery drivers often bypass this system, leaving parcels vulnerable. My experiences of package theft have been numerous, echoing a sentiment of frustration and helplessness shared by many residents. The thefts don't stop with packages. Bicycles are also a prime target, with reports of them being stolen or vandalized within the premises. It's disheartening to see personal property treated with such disregard, and even more so when there's a blatant lack of action from management to curb these incidents. The most alarming aspect is that these issues aren't new. A dive into past Google reviews reveals a history of similar complaints stretching back years, yet there seems to be no significant improvement or effort from management to address these security breaches. This negligence has turned the living environment here into one of constant anxiety and fear for personal safety and property. If you were thinking about living here, I urge you to reconsider. The stress, potential loss, and overall unsafe living conditions are not worth the cost of rent here. It's better to invest a bit more in a place where peace of mind and security are priorities. Save yourself the trouble and the risk – there are far better options available that will offer you the safety and comfort you deserve."
"I lived here for 2 years during graduate school and it was overall a great experience. Location- close to campus with lots of bus lines if you don’t want to walk to drive. Next to an open park with great amenities and the closest coffee shop is great. The area can have its challenges, but that isn’t the buildings fault. There’s actually lots of community organizations in Como always working to make the area lively, fun, and safer! The building itself was great- clean, quiet, and maintenance was always quick to respond and very nice. The office has friendly people that were always a pleasant to talk and work with. The building also has study rooms and a fitness center. It’s lower cost being a co-op, and there are opportunities to really be a part of the growing co-op there. Highly recommend for apartment living! Thanks for the experience there!"
"TLDR: Pros: Building and units are nice and secure, management and maintenence team are great, rooms are quiet, close to shopping/restaurants and next to a park. Cons: packages get stolen often, cars are burgled often, likely have to park on the street, strange people around, emergency services are there often. For reference of time, this was written in August 2023. I'd give my experience living here 3.5 stars. The building is very secure, which I like a lot, and the apartment itself was very nice. Internet is free and fast. The appliances were very nice, and there is a lot of storage space. Maintenence was very responsive, communicative, and quick with their work. Same thing with management. By email, they take a day or two to respond, so I've found it's better to just reach them by phone if you need an immediate answer. The gym was really nice, but all of the dumbbells were stolen/missing for most of time I lived there. USPS is the only secure delivery for packages. Otherwise, the package room is shared between the building next door, so anyone in the building is allowed in there. Some delivery services don't leave the packages in the package room, but either way, your package is likely to be stolen if not picked up right away. Same thing with the bike locker; a couple of months into living here, the bike locker was broken into and several bikes, including mine and my roommates, were stolen/damaged. There is VERY limited parking space in the garage, so most people will have to park on the street. I recommend getting a shovel for winter time; your car will likely get stuck at least once after a heavy snow. Make sure you stay up to date with parking restrictions and snow emergencies; parking violations are not cheap. I parked outside, and my car was broken into twice, and all I had in my car was gum. The police didn't really care, and the person wasn't caught even though I had them on camera. I personally was not burgled, but my neighbor on the first floor was broken into a couple of months ago. The location is very close to The Quarry Shopping Center, U of M campus, Dinkytown and next to Van Cleve Park. There are some homeless folks by the railroad, if that bothers you. Some really shady people have been hanging around the building more often in the past couple of months. I've had people bang on my bedroom window in the middle of the night, and there's always someone either tweaking out or trying to harrass me. I've been assaulted by someone standing by the back of the building twice; I'm not sure if they were a resident or not. The cops, ambulance, and/or fire department are there almost every day on weekends. The apartments are pretty soundproof, but you can hear everything that goes on outside. They recently got a security service, but I'm not exactly sure what their responsibilities are. Most of the complaints here are about the area rather than the building/management itself."
"This apartment is a brand new building with great amenities. The rent is reasonably priced and utilities are included in the rent, even the cable and Wi-Fi. I like the view of my unit as well. The hallway and trash room are always kept clean and well maintained. Maintenance is also great. They have emergency maintenance and they come real fast to solve the issue. On top of every good thing about this apartment, the best is the assistant community manager Troy. He always tries to help and whenever I have questions he answered quickly and he's very friendly. I would highly recommend living here! :)"
