Reviews of River South Apartments
"Recently moved out, but I lived here for a year and a half. Management changed about three times. The assistants in the office were always helpful, albeit a new face every few months. The management was very difficult to work with at times. There's no personal feel or timeliness to any interactions. I had to threaten to get a lawyer involved to get simple lease questions answered, after their delay had essentially already cost me a month's rent. After I moved out, it took two months for them to finalize my residency and all bills. As for the actual state of the complex, the renovated portions are decent enough, but there's no character. The un-renovated portions are in bad shape, and the whole place could use a revamp. Was never satisfied with response time to issues, once took two weeks to fix a leaking garbage disposal."
"Since BH Management took over, my rent went up from $880 for my 1 BR place to $900, and finally capped at $950, even though my apartment was exactly the same and I still had my underground parking space. Last summer, they didn't give notification that they were doing parking lot repairs and my car was towed without any notification. I had to pay $160 to get it back. The "upgrades" they were doing on the roof kept me up when I was trying to sleep and were a major inconvenience, as they took away my underground parking spot (which they jacked up the price) and forced us to park so that we had to walk almost a quarter mile to get to our building. Also, I still had to pay for the month that I couldn't use it. The parking, which was bad to begin with, was cut short even more because the excessively noisy and rude roof repairers "needed more space to stow their supplies". The neighbors below me smoke pot and it drifted up into my place. My apartment was outdated. 2 burners on my stove didn't work. My electrical outlets were loose and my patio door leaked water when it rained. The laundry was good for the most part but for the price, you couldn't fit very much into the washers. Since I like to end on a positive note, The location is fantastic and they've done some significant updates on the place from when I first moved there until I moved out. They remodeled a lot of the apartments (not mine) and they've really spruced up the pool area. The "Mikes", or the maintenance guys (all whom were named Mike), were cool guys and they were good about getting stuff done in a reasonable time frame. About 90% of the time, the staff was good about letting you know if you were going to be inconvenienced, such as plowing snow or if they were shutting off the water to work on the system. The laundry was good for the most part, heat, water and trash (were) included in the rent and the garage has a free car wash stall which is nice to have."
"Current resident. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! IF YOU HAVE A CAR LIVE IN THAT FIRST BEFORE YOU RENT HERE!!!! This is by far the worst rental experience that I have ever had. Upon moving into what I was told was a remodeled apartment, many cabinet doors fell off the hinges. Kitchen drawers did not line up correctly, so everything looked crooked and didn't open properly. Many of the bedroom and closet doors fell off the their hinges. We were told when we first moved in that there was something wrong with the sink in the master bathroom, so we were unable to use it. It took about three months and many phone calls for management to finally have the sink fixed. It took a few months and many phone calls for them to come in and fix these minor repairs and not all of them are fixed. Working with management on this is like talking to a brick wall. Deer in the headlights. The customer service here is horrendous. Another thing is that we were tricked into paying all of our utilities. They never once specified to us during the interview and walk through of the apartment that all residents are responsible for paying their utilities. So, we signed away on the lease. We blame ourselves for that part, because the utilities thing is in the lease in very fine print. This has been the worst rental experience of my life. I've only been here for about four months and would rather live in my car. We have asked them if we may be able to get out of our lease without any repercussions for these inconveniences and as I said it is like talking to a brick wall. I may have to contact the city or renters union or someone who can help me get into a rent escrow program. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! IF YOU HAVE A CAR LIVE IN THAT FIRST BEFORE YOU RENT HERE!!!!"
"I lived in Raven Hill apartments for 2 years. The first year was great but then when the property management changed it went drastically down hill. The quality of residents also went down with the management change. I had to call maintenance to our unit 5 times in 2 weeks to do the same repair on the toilet. If they would have fixed it right the first time they would not have to been called back again. Also the door handle to the security door broke and they failed to fix it for the last 4 months we lived there. Oh and the hot water was a huge issue. Nothing like taking ice cold showers every morning in December. I started to hear neighbors in my unit. I also smelled pot in the hall ways on a daily basis. I also like others have said had issues with smelling smoke in my unit. It was so bad that I could not use one of the bathrooms. When I talked to management about it they said there was nothing that could be done about it. They wouldn't even come up to the unit to smell how bad it was. When we got our notice to renew our lease they wanted to increase our rent $100 a month. This was outrageous. The day after we had to have our response in if we were going to stay or not we got a letter at our door saying that there was a new management company taking over that day... Maybe they would have been a little more reasonable with the rent increase but we were not going to stick around and find out. And the icing on the cake which is what is causing me to write this review. I am still receiving electric bills for the unit 2 months after moving out. The rental office did not contact the electric company to change the service over. I have been on the phone multiple times about it with the electric company and left messages for the rental office to call me back about it and I have still not received a call on it. I would highly not recommend living here as it seems that the office staff has no clue what they are doing nor are they willing to act like the property management."
"This place is a joke!! We moved in March of 2014 and have had 3 different managers within 10 months. By far the worst management is Pinnacle. The staff is rude and not understanding what so ever. Tried to give my 60 days notice and they wouldn't accept because it was 8 days late. I wasn't able to get it in on time because I was out of town and on maternity leave. Said that I could've emailed them....um emailed who exactly? We've had 3 different management companies and I was on maternity leave so I didn't even know we had new management until I got back!! Plus rent is being raised and nothing is updated! $894 for rent on an non-updated unit is way too overpriced. I will never rent from another pinnacle managed location ever again. You need to put you staff through new customer service classes as well as a class on empathy and understanding."
