"Nice place to call home and to visit those who do. Clean, modern, comfortable, spacious, quiet. Nice helpful staff. Plenty of parking. Fantastic location in Maple Grove with everything you need right nearby and much of it within walking distance. Not inexpensive, but you can't get something this nice without paying a little bit and that's fine. My relatives are very happy here."
"My mother lived in independent living here for 1 year. She loved playing the piano and would often entertain the other residents. It is essential to understand, particularly for those seeking independent living for their aging parents that Silvercreek’s independent unit is 100% independent living. In emergencies, they'll contact YOU before considering external help, and they maintain a hands-off approach even in critical situations. There is no grace. While the facility is aesthetically pleasing with excellent amenities, the focus is heavily tilted toward profit. The administrator's lack of empathy stood out during this incident with my mother. When we decided to leave for another independent facility, Andrea’s response was “Received” devoid of any acknowledgment of Mom’s contributions, her smiling face or even her presence over the past year Moreover, there seems to be a discrepancy in the care assessment. Despite a UTI compounded with dehydration, pushing for memory care contradicted the nursing director's basic assessment. This discrepancy highlights the apparent lack of consistent and compassionate care. This experience highlighted that the administrator seemed to lack personal knowledge of my mother until this incident, reinforcing the impression that the human element was overshadowed by financial considerations. This aspect of the administration's response further underscored the facility's prioritization of monetary matters over the well-being and personal connections with its residents. Moreover, I'd like to highlight a contrast with other facilities I've since toured. Unlike Silvercreek, some independent facilities offer morning and night wellness checks along with emergency pendants at no extra charge, providing a level of support that independent living residents and caregivers may find beneficial. Future residents considering independent living should be aware that at Silvercreek On Main, they will not receive nursing care or assistance. This information becomes crucial should they progress to assisted living or memory care. For those seeking alternatives, there are equally beautiful options in the west metro area with a more resident-centered philosophy. Look for places that prioritize care over the bottom dollar, invest in staff well-being, and demonstrate a commitment to providing quality care. Having worked in senior care for 30 years, I'd particularly recommend exploring faith-based nonprofits in the Twin Cities for a more caring and equally pleasant environment. Remember, the devil is in the details, and thorough research is crucial when choosing a place for your loved ones. Incidentally, Mom is still in independent living in her new place and is being watched and well cared for."
"I am writing as a relative of a resident currently on one of the memory care floors. Overall, I am not impressed with the care they provide there. When I visited pre-COVID and joined for meals or spent time with my relative, the staff was very rough with residents. They were shoving them down to sit down, even when they didn't want to. They were aggressive with their voice/yelling and demanding with the elderly for no reason. They didn't help feed the residents or pay much attention to them during the meals. Overall, I'd say minimal involvement or help. Also, there have been multiple incidents where my relative has gotten hurt and no one seems to know what happened and there have been times no one is notified. One time a family member went to see this relative and she had a black eye. No one told us or knew what happened. This happened a few times. Lately, my relative had an injury and bled, however, a few days later when someone visited there was still blood all over the room. No one took the time to help clean it up. Pre-covid my relative with a memory condition left her floor and was found outside the building. The staff didn't seem to know what happened. The lack of ownership, answers, and help to fix this issue was disappointing. My relative also got access to gum from an employee's purse and could've easily choked on it, if another family member wasn't there to notice she had gum in her mouth. This place has been less than impressive or even met what I would expect is a good level of care for someone who can't live independently on their own. I would not recommend this place for someone needing memory care."
"Choosing a place for your loved one who suffers from dementia is a tough decision. Silver Creek is a beautiful facility and in the memory care specifically, there are some great employees. However, most of the evening and weekend care staff (nursing assistants and resident assistants), do not seem very interested in serving the residents that live there. They spend a lot of time congregating together, and talking with each other, without a lot of regard for what is going on around them. I am not sure if it's just poor training, bad oversight, poor wages or they are just hiring the wrong type of people. I've never seen any blatant mistreatment, and I don't feel my loved one is in danger, rather it's just a lack of helping the residents with things they need; helping cut or eat food, providing clothing protectors to keep clothes from getting spilled upon, providing beverages or condiments at meals. Residents can be ignored for long periods of time, and there are simply not enough activities for them, even though there are many residents that would enjoy them. There are long periods of time with no interaction or direction. My family has expressed our concerns to management, and the general response has been that "it's hard to find good help". My advice is to visit several places, do a lot of homework, ask lot's of questions. Visit on evenings and weekends, and look past the "amenities" and instead focus on staff, to see how residents are really being cared for."
"Well the staffs are welcoming and the residents are lovely. The facility is very decent and clean however, this facility pay their employees a low wage. They do not have good work benefits and the nursing department, specifically the resident care assistant (CNA) are mean. They gossip about each other and form cliques. Also there is no team work among the staff."
