Reviews of Rivercliff Apartments
"There was only 1 woman in the entrance, so I’m assuming it’s Robin because the other reviews sounded similar. She lacked professionalism to the highest degree. I’ve worked in the service industry enough to know how to handle situations—including having worked at a leasing office in previous years. As soon as my husband & I (I am Hispanic & he is Black American) walked in, the thin, blonde woman ran up and literally pushed us out of the door, yelling “No! Get out.” We were not “allowed” to even receive a tour. That was one of the MOST OBVIOUS prejudices I’ve experienced my whole life of living in Arkansas, and I have mentioned that experience to everyone I know because it was so ridiculous. Might as well have a 1950’s “whites only” sign to let people know. __________ We moved to an apartment paying twice as much, we are good residents and even pay rent early, but if it is renovated and has great service we don’t mind because at least we have gotten better treatment along with it. I don’t know what the leasing worker here “assumed,” but they need new workers. I’m just glad we knew how business and service is not important before ever potentially putting money down. __________ I highly recommend for ethnic people to not WASTE your time here. I used to live in Vantage Point with no issues at all. All of the surrounding apartments I’ve ever looked at in the area, and lived in over the years, were more professional."
"I love the family owned beautiful complex. Everyone treats you like family. The landscaping is amazing and the maintenance crew are the best. Leasing office staff are on top of everything you need to move in with no stress."
"continued from above... 5. After having gone through this awkwardness for two months, I decided it was time to express my concerns and give her feedback. She retorted with a species of self-righteous indignation and hung up the phone. I did not raise my voice, call her names, use inappropriate language, etc. Her response was juvenile, and she refused to answer the phone when I called back. Frankly, the inability to accept any negative feedback is a character flaw; hanging up the phone was confirmation of this. I imagine my experience is NOT the rule, rather the exception. At least I hope it is. However, this was my experience. I was a good tenant, paid on-time, got along with my neighbors, was respectful to all I came across, made no noise and caused no problems. These are not things that I (or anyone for that matter) should be celebrated for, but it is vexing how things deteriorated. My experience with this manager was poor. She would almost certainly claim the same about me."
"My initial experience with Rivercliff was good with a relatively smooth move-in. There were some minor inconveniences such as the apartment not being ready (no blinds, moderate dust, silicon and chipping paint from the recent and hastily performed white paint over the apartment); needing subsequent maintenance requests soon after moving in; being informed that the digital antenna TV was only good for “smart TVs” after moving in; inability to use the AC after converting to heat in November (80 degrees on Christmas day in Little Rock—again this limiting factor was not initially discussed by manager) and then the heat not turned on until February (I’m a ‘Yankee’ and can handle the cold). To their credit, they did respond promptly to maintenance requests. However, things deteriorated after I announced that the Air Force planned to transfer me to a base Oregon. I am not active duty nor did I ask to be released outright from the lease. I did request converting it to a previously offered six month lease and paying the difference in rent—extra $40 per month I think. This was refused, and I accepted that I had committed to the original twelve months. I paid the $500 "re-lease" fee shortly after announcing my intention to leave and agreed to continue to pay the monthly rent. 1. I checked the Rivercliff website twice weekly for a month after announcing my intention to leave and paying the $500. The apartment was not re-listed (advertised) on their site until a month later. 2. The manager made no effort to schedule a walk through before I left nor to document a forwarding address. I cleaned the apartment, left it better than I found save for the flaked paint from their initial white wash and left my keys at the main office door before I left (on a Saturday). 3. The Appfolio account used to pay rent, request maintenance was suddenly closed before I departed. The manager claimed she had no control over this and could not make any changes despite the fact that I was still considered an active tenant. This resulted in billing for an entire month’s rent despite the fact that the eventual new tenant moved in on May 7th. Once the tenant moved in, I received no call, text and/or email notification nor a plan for returning the money I was due. The manager did indicate that they would not charge me for utilities, which I was still responsible for, but, frankly, I was prepared to pay these and do not consider this an off-set for my other concerns. 4. When I called to find out the plan for returning my security deposit and balance of the monthly rent on May 12th. The manager told me that I would have to wait for the owner to return from vacation. I did not consider the delay to be of significance. However, when I asked about whether I would continue to be billed and whether I could have my Appfolio account re-instated so that I could remove my banking information, the manager told me that she could do nothing and that I would likely not be billed in the future since the new tenant moved in. This may very well have been the case, but the response was glib and dismissive. Additionally, when asked if she had my forwarding address, she was not sure. I am not certain if she was just assuming she did or really did not care. see below for continuation..."
"I rented a one-bedroom apartment at Rivercliff for 1.5 years (July 2016 to Dec. 2018) and loved living at the complex. The family that owns the property obviously takes great pride in maintaining the buildings and grounds. After work when the weather was nice, I loved to relax and enjoy a glass of wine in a garden area with spectacular views of downtown. Parking was convenient and the laundry room was clean and easy to use. The lady who managed the apartments (Robin?) was always friendly and helpful. The pool and clubhouse were wonderful. At Christmas time, the owners throw catered party with fantastic food for all the residents. I moved away when I got transferred overseas, but I would definitely move back to Rivercliff if I returned to Little Rock."
