The Highland Midtown Apartments

"EDIT: The management team always replies to these reviews saying that they are working on things. This is just to save face. If you are reading this because you are thinking about moving here do yourself a favor and ignore their replies. I have lived here since 2016 and honestly really enjoyed until about 2 years ago. There are many things wrong with the building but if you have a maintenance problem that is anything more than putting flex seal on the pipes you’re completely out of luck. The main ac that would actually make a difference in my apartment has never worked and they said they couldn’t fix it. There was an apartment that literally exploded 2 doors down from me and we never got any explanation as to what happened so I have to think about that every time I want to cook or use my oven. All of that aside the worst thing to happen so far is a rule by the new management issuing arbitrary fines to an entire floor of people if they find trash in the hallway. This is an especially stupid rule considering all someone would have to do is put something on a different floor and screw everyone else over. Not to mention it is illegal to fine someone based on the actions of others. The stupidity of this is compounded by the fact that there is someone living here who is hellbent on causing trouble. They cut the cords to the laundry room rendering the machines unusable, it’s not too far fetched to assume they would also put trash in random hallways. I highly recommend finding somewhere else to live."

"If I could give a negative star I would. It is utterly ridiculous to always have something broken, not working, not functional but yet still get rent from renters. From the air, to the water and the trash chute! The amount of time it takes for renters to get their mail!! What are you all doing with the money that is being paid every month? How do you advertise knowing that there are so many disappointments and so many known issues. The elevators should never go out so frequent. It goes out with residents on them and you have to wait to be freed. It is not only scary but it does not build trust and it does not make you feel comfortable to want to renew your leasing agreement. The experience has been one to not to remember but most residents and guest will. I have lost count the amount of times this complex has changed management!! Literally like a hit it and quit it type of relationship. They need to figure out how to become more effective and efficient and professional. Nobody wants to pay rent and other expenses to constantly have something go wrong in that building. I have some advice. Make a long list and fix everything instead of doing a patch job. Because obviously whatever method is being used is not working. I would advise anyone not move into this building until all known issues have been fixed which insures the safety of residents, and all guest. So, MANAGEMENT get to work and make all residents happy. Just because you do not live in the building does not mean you all do not have an obligation to make what all is wrong right. Respectfully, do the right thing!"

"If I could give this place negative stars I would. DO NOT MOVE HERE! I lived there for a year. In that year I think we had 7 new managers. It’s always under new management. The problem is the building is old and needs to just be torn down. While I lived there during cold weather we went weeks without heat. During hot weather we went weeks without air. The boiler system always messed up. There was also mold in my apartment. The maintenance crew came out and verified there was mold. Manager at the time lied to me about what was said. I was sick for weeks due to mold. He ordered an at home mold kit. Claimed the test was negative but “could not find” the test to show me. I emailed the owners of the buildings on multiple occasions and no response. Wanted to charge me more that three months rent to break my lease. Never received my security deposit back. I understand it’s cheap but moving here can be detrimental to your health."

"I've lived at the highland the last 3 years through the pandemic, I loce living here, I feel safe, I know it's an older building that has had some problems but the incredible staff we have on hand is always there to make sure things get fixed. Lakisha in the office is great and always takes care of anything I need! I know people like to get on these reviews and complain and it's sad because they do a great job and i love living here! I will definitely be renewing my lease, and I just wanted to thank the staff again for doing a great job!"

"We are resident at The Highland Midtown, and we have to commended the present leasing office. The apartment has went through several managers within our time of residing here. The young ladies that we have managing the building out are doing a wonderful job. They address your issues and work them out in a timely manner. Ivory Aronald is the manager and the assistant is Nerissa and we happy to have them over the building. Thank you Ladies Ivory Arnold Nerissa"
