Reviews of Rogers Behavioral Health
"Very intuitive and caring group of staff that put in serious work for the patients and teach many helpful tools and knowledge while keeping the learning environment fun and safe."
"Cold, impersonal, no focus on patient care. Reprehensible. Rogers Behavioral Health Eden Prairie declined treatment for my adolescent daughter who suffers from an eating disorder because she previously had passive suicidal thoughts. Intake staff erroneously identified her has having active suicidal ideation. Based on this misinformation, the clinicians flatly refused her treatment and, even worse, refused to discuss the matter with me. Coping with a daughter struggling with her mental health is difficult enough without incompetent mental health professionals playing “hot potato” with her case. They are beneath contempt. I will be reporting this to the state and they should have their license revoked."
"I’d give this place 0 stars. I had an extremely jarring and disappointing phone call with Rogers staff. I have been to Rogers twice in the past, in two different programs (+ both PHP and IOP) and I want to make it clear that this is a BUSINESS before it is a healthcare institution- profits will always come before care so if you are considering an intake with Rogers, you should understand that your treatment may come with a hefty personal cost and you may leave feeling more like a statistic than a patient. I think the therapists (NOT including psychiatrists) are doing the very best they can within the limits of the program but the program itself is a gross example of healthcare disparity in this country. I simply cannot afford to take a leave of absence from my job to focus SOLELY on my mental health and Rogers was NOT willing to meet me halfway and provide necessary care while taking my personal responsibilities into account. I was told my case was too severe for IOP, but seeing as I (and many others) simply cannot commit to PHP with 5 full days a week of treatment, I was turned away. So no treatment is better than some treatment? Make that make sense. The only way I can understand their reasoning for this is that Rogers is more concerned with treatment outcome statistics than they are about HELPING PEOPLE. All that I took from that conversation is “you are just a number, and if we aren’t confident you will improve, then we won’t bother”. I recommend finding a facility/therapist with the mindset that ANY help is better than no help. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place. They aren’t here to help all of us- Just those who can afford to put aside their entire life to work on their mental health. Those who have the privilege (and money) to attend Rogers programs should avoid it if they believe in healthcare equality. We are more than just numbers and insurance payouts, we are human beings that need support."
"I wish I could give this place zero stars. Absolutely awful experience. Psychiatrist Dr. Guth should not be allowed to practice medicine after being fired from Allina. He is terrible, does not care about his patients at all. Refused to prescribe any new antidepressant when I had been on Lexapro for two years with no improvement in depressive symptoms. You are in a tiny room all by yourself for 4 out of 6 hours per day. Classroom for group is very small and extremely uncomfortable. This place felt like what I imagine jail must feel like. I urge you not to go here."
"I feel hurt. Update…(9/28/22) So, five months beyond my daughter’s disastrous one-week stay at Rogers Behavioral Health (adult eating disorder program) she is now recovering at a highly recommended clinic elsewhere. After six years battling anorexia and two prior clinics, she is experiencing real recovery from a facility that is noticeably different and has a significantly better approach to healing. Her experience at the adult unit left her with ptsd for weeks. The Rogers medical review staff completely under diagnosed her and created this horrible scenario. In our haste to admit her, we made assumptions about Rogers expertise, based on a prior stay in adolescent care. I can’t say enough good about that experience three years ago. We fell in love with that program and Oconomowoc, so upon her return we, logically, assumed an equivalent experience…..not even close. We dropped her off and that very night she called telling us that the program was bad. If you have a loved one who has or is experiencing an eating disorder, you know that those sweet girls are manipulated by a voice that changes them and will make them lie. We thought that was the case. Throughout the week she continued to express panic and fear, expressing abandonment and letting us know her therapist was incompetent. Sadly, she was telling the truth. In our desperation, we began calling any Rogers number to find out what was happening. After a certain hour, all calls are directed to admissions. Admissions wouldn’t give us a contact number. Admissions after hours showed no sympathy or willingness to help. Eventually, we were able to find a contact. During the next few days we had calls with her “team.” Her therapist couldn’t tell us what she had eaten that day, if she had bathed or who her superior was. After only one week we discharged her and brought her home. During her week at Rogers she only ate broccoli at one meal and never showered. She cried much of the 5 hour trip home. Her therapist walked off the job just days after we discharged her. Rogers opened an internal investigation upon our complaint and found no apparent issues on their end. I sincerely hope that Rogers has taken steps to resolve the utter failure of that program. Again, our experience three years prior in adolescent care was stellar, so there is potential. The adult program failed, in that, it provided zero accountability and a total lack of experienced staffing. If they have not changed their philosophy, I would not recommend them and would point them to a facility in Oklahoma that is a gold standard in care."
