"Memory care facility at Harrison Bay is absolutely the worst. They have no staff and most of what they do have are temps from outside agencies. As soon as a room opens up they fill it again even though they have no staff. Do NOT choose this place for your loved one for memory care. I’ve walked in to some pretty disgusting sights. And yes, as the previous post says the food is also a disgrace. I"
"I used to work here a couple years ago and it was horrible. Residents did not get their scheduled showers (once a week) because they were too short staffed, and the management was just terrible. I was out for a couple weeks with MONO and they still were begging me to come in. They always had agency people come in that didn't know the residents and they were always short staffed. Also a lot of agency staff tended to be rough with the residents in Memory care. I hope they have more than one activity director now as when I worked there there was nothing for the residents to do when they were promised activities that never happened. They hire 16 year olds to pass meds/narcotics which seems a little odd to me. Food was terrible, one time I ate some of their food in memory care and there was a dead spider in the rice. During Covid, the plates of food to be delivered were cold 90% of the time. It was depressing for the residents and disgusting how they ran things there. I felt horrible for the helpless residents... especially the ones in memory care. The only good thing about this place is the residents (that deserve so much more). Shout out to the few kind hearted and caring HHAs that worked here, the residents needed you. Don't let the beautiful facility fool you. Do NOT send your loved one here."
"I have been employed with this Harrison Bay Senior Living for roughly 5 months; I am so grateful for the employees and residents that I get to work with everyday! This community has integrated residents and staff to feel like a family, and that is something I am honored to be a part of."
"My brother lived at Harrison Bay until he passed. It was a lovely place, he had a beautiful spacious apartment with a nice view, and the staff seemed to be exceptionally nice and caring. They were very helpful after my brother passed as well. My brother always thought the food was outstanding. The thing I didn't care for about this facility was the lack of available free transportation for medical emergencies or appointments."
"My Mom moved in one month ago, and this was a very, very positive step for her. The nursing staff is very warm and very resident-oriented -- we know their paperwork burdens are large, but they still take time for residents. Every staff member, at every level, clearly has been trained to demonstrate a "can do," positive and inclusive approach to residents, family and friends. I can't tell you how noticeable the warmth is, and how it helps to make every day sunny and happy. Mom is extremely happy with the positive energy, competence and kindness of the nurses and aides with whom she works. The apartments are new, easy to navigate in a wheelchair, bright and sunny, and quiet. Each has an individual heating and cooling unit, so there is no fear of airborne contaminants from neighbors or from being too hot or too cold. Convenience items like an ice maker in the refrigerator and a full size washer and dryer in the apartment makes things easy on all of us. The quality of the food is outstanding. Mom tells me the BLT sandwich is the best she's ever had, and she raves about the chicken, apple and cranberry salad. Mom has lived in four different assisted living facilities over the years, and this is by far the most beautiful setting on the shores of Dutch lake, the happiest, and the most professionally managed."
