"my son was born prematurely in this hospital and the doctors and nurses are so uneducated you would think they’ve never been around a baby in their life. they wouldn’t let me breastfeed my premature baby when he stayed in their nicu but they made me sign a waiver saying he could have donated breast milk for 7 days which my son only received for 2 days and then they put him on formula over night without informing me. they had my phone number written on the board in his room but they never once called. we stayed for 3 weeks i was in that room every day and night only leaving to eat and shower and when i did leave they would poke my baby with needles and change his oxygen percentage without telling us they never once did anything like that while i was in the room. they never informed me what they were doing. the doctors in the nicu were all so disrespectful to me and my family and when i asked that we be transferred to a different hospital to get a second opinion they called cps which obviously did nothing because that is ridiculous and at the end of our stay they dumped out all the milk i pumped for those 3 weeks in front of me without asking (there was nothing wrong with it) the nurses who actually work with the babies were very pleasant and helpful besides only doing anything to my son when i wasn’t there and when we left the hospital the lady that brought us out put my sons car seat in the car the wrong way. the whole avera franchise is awful"

"Your billing office fails to send out statements & claims they didn’t have my address. I updated my address with the USPS & Avera chart & used to work returned mail AT AVERA! y’all are pathetic. Not very Christian or holy of you."

"Dr Agaba is a good person and a good doctor. I believe she " sees " me warts and all BUT still wants to walk beside me during my most difficult time facing cancer. Yes we should advocate for ourselves ....alas we can't all the time & it means we need a professional team to hold us up when we can't."

"If I could describe my experience with Avera McKennan Hospital in one word it would be “care”. From check in at 5am, to intake, to anesthesia and wheeled in to surgery, waking up and taken to my room for recovery - every single nurse and doctor was caring, calm and informative of what to expect and next step in care. Surgery can feel overwhelming and unknown but knowing I was in good hands really set me at ease and made me feel blessed for educated staff, human kindness and clean, comfortable and caring environment. Thank you to the nurses and Dr. Starks for all you do! ❤️ Protip: if arriving before valet is open, drive up to the hospital entrance and turn left in to valet parking. You’re allowed to park there and take your keys with you as they aren’t open yet. I took a picture of my space number and license plate to show and remember where we parked."
