"Within an hour or two of arriving, there was police officers in the building taking care of any disturbance. No coffee pots in the room. The continental breakfast was absolutely horrible. Not much for choice. Not recommended for a kid place. The Whirlpool did not work. Would not recommend going to this place, not even for a dive"
"DO NOT STAY HERE! Scam artists at its finest , booked through Expedia paid walked in took my card for damages cause it was a debit all I had at the time, I had ask two different times when the $150.00 would be refunded they said at check out two days later after pending I called many times, was told need to talk to the manager first, then they would say I’ll call you in ten minutes, well hour goes by, same thing over and over, boom charged my card and then wouldn’t take my calls used a different phone they would hang up block that number too… stay far far away from this dump SCUM BAGS!!!!"
"I was displaced from my apartment building and looking for a new place to live in town, so I had to stay at a hotel for a few days while I shopped around for apartments. I decided to stay at Econo Lodge because the prices weren’t too bad, and the pictures and reviews seemed average. Nothing special but not a total dump. Let me tell you, I was SO wrong. This hotel is absolutely ATROCIOUS! To begin with, the outside grounds are unkempt. There were large pieces of thick, sharp glass all over the parking lot, as if a vehicle’s windshield had been broken. The night staff at the front desk was pleasant, but he was about the only good thing at this hotel. The credit card machine wasn’t working, as we tried 2 of my cards for the deposit and neither would work (yes, I had enough money in each account for it), so instead, they put a hold on my credit card, and the amount of time said hold will be in place is unknown as I was not told. Next, the entry door closer to my room was around a corner with barely any light and no security cameras, keep in mind this is a very sketchy part of town, with a fence on the other side, and a dumpster blocking it from any view. I got there late at night, so of course, this raised some concern. My first room was on the first floor, which I appreciated as I had a lot of bags to bring in. Upon entry to my room, there were no light switches by the door. It was late at night, my arms were full, so I had to feel around into the bathroom to get some light. The only lights in the room itself are the bedside lamps with switches beneath them. That’s inconvenient, especially without warning. At first glance, it was nice and matched the pictures on the website. But upon further inspection, the room was dirty, the chair was covered in dog hair and hadn’t been vacuumed in what looked like ages, the floors were dirty, there was a huge hole above the bathroom mirror with exposed wires and other things, there was dust all over the place, crumbs, etc. The flat sheet on the bed was put on inside out, and there was a spot of something brown on it. Strands of long hair were all over the place. It was awful. I called and requested a new room. They said they would upgrade me, to which I was confused as I already had a king room anyway. The man at the front desk was kind and accommodating about my complaints, and asked what was wrong so he could relay the message to housekeeping before I switched rooms. My next room was upstairs, but close to the stairwell so packing everything up wasn’t too terrible. The second room was even worse than the first!! I couldn’t believe it! There were fresh pet stains all over the carpet, the chair was covered in dog hair and crumbs, the surfaces hadn’t been wiped down at all with visible splatters and spills leaving everything sticky, the bedding was dirty, the blankets smelled musty, dust was everywhere, the tv was on when I came in, so I was afraid someone was already staying in this room, but I was wrong. To top it all off, the fire alarm wasn’t attached to the ceiling and was left on the dresser. I was too tired and didn’t want to complain for a second time, so I found a seemingly clean area on the bed and slept there. If this was an “upgrade” from my last room, I didn’t want to see what the “upgrade” was for this one. If I had more money in my account to request a refund and find somewhere else to stay, I would have. But refunds take up to a week to make it back to your account and they had a hold on my credit card, so there wasn’t much I could do. The next morning, I went out to my car and found linens to be put on new rooms, so towels and bedding, on the dirty, nasty floors outside of each room. That seems to unsanitary to me, considering this hotel is a health inspectors worst nightmare. This hotel is absolutely disgusting. Spend a little extra money and get yourself a hotel that is clean and safe. I didn’t get any pictures of my first room, but all of the pictures posted here are of my “upgraded” room."
"First, let me start by saying that I've never even stayed at this hotel. If Google allowed a negative rating, this hotel would receive the WORST possible rating - please don't let my 1-star give anyone hope for a "not terrible for the price" type of guest experience. You'll receive nothing less than the worst guest experience and I wouldn't stay here if someone paid me to. I'm part of a group of hockey parents who were instructed we had to stay at this specific hotel due to tournament requirements. After hearing horrible things about this hotel, our team convinced the tournament coordinators to allow us to stay somewhere else. This is where our experience quickly turned horrifyingly bad. All I tried to do was cancel my reservation within the allotted cancellation window. It took nearly an hour to get ANYONE to answer the main number for the hotel. Once I was able to connect with someone they were extremely rude and could barely speak or understand English. I was actually told "We've had several cancellations before yours, so, I need to speak with my manager to make sure I can cancel yours" and proceeded to hang up on me. Upon reconnecting, I asked to speak with the manager and was told "he's not available" and to call back later. Before I was hung up on again, I quickly stated that all I needed was my reservation cancelled. The hotel employee asked for my name again and once they realized it was the same person they just hung up on, they stated "Your name is not in the system anymore as we already cancelled your reservation" and hung up on me AGAIN. I cannot believe the level of disrespect and lack of basic communication / customer service skills. At no point did I raise my voice or speak in an unprofessional manner. I simply tried to cancel a reservation in the allotted time to do so. If anyone is considering a hotel in the Fargo, ND area, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS HOTEL YOUR BUSINESS. I hope this helps deter future potential guests from staying at this place."
"Guest service at check-in was enough to walk away never to return... Non-American run hotel by those who don't think that they are in America now??? I am a Diamond Member with the 'misfortune' of having a Fargo address on my driver's license. Front Desk solution to my not having the $150.00 handy for the Deposit had no problem telling me to cancel my reservation and try and get my points back used for the booking. When I asked why they had this new policy, I was informed that Fargo residents destroy hotels. Really? Do I look like I would do that after spending thousands of dollars to earn the Diamond status? His response? "We don't know you." My response. "Yes, you do." I have stayed there three times previous to the new policy. And left that room better than I found it. My wish while having to search for a room for hours after that encounter... is that you tank, Econo Lodge."
