Reviews of Silverwood Park
"Very nice park with sculptures, bridge to middle of lake, and small convention center. It is swimmable in the summer and good place to snowshoe in the winter. Worth a family visit."
"This is one of my favorite parks in the twin cities area. The fact that the park incorporates so much art is phenomenal and the park has amazing, accessible trails through lots of different types of trees. Come back in different seasons, this is going to make you happy."
"My wife and I love this park. The views of nature you can get here are stunning. The colors are just beautiful this time of year and the last time we went, we saw a large number of deer by the hidden pond near the entrance (not the big one with the island in the middle). It's just about as perfect as can be...with one exception. The modern art displays that have recently become more common in the park are strange and an eyesore. There are a few pictured in this review, and unfortunately many others that are often made of materials that stand in stark contrast to the natural beauty (a recently installed one is a concrete cask with a mowed field of artificial metal or plastic flowers around it, and others are structures made of rusty metal - the rusty "5", concrete, plastic, artificial colors, etc). A few years ago there was even a DVD player set up on a tree stump inside the nature center that looped a video of teenage girls silently throwing cheese puffs at one another in various nature scenes (I'm not joking). The empty container of cheese puffs was displayed next to the stump. These modern art displays have taken over a very nice space inside the nature center, where there was a comfy couch in front of a lovely fireplace. The couch has been removed to make room to display these modern art pieces and the fireplace is never turned on anymore. It's unfortunate - we really miss the ability to cozy up in front of that fireplace. But the park is otherwise very lovely, and we'll be coming back for years to come."
"It's a perfect place to watch the twilight at nightfall, very quiet despite being an urban park, the best thing is that we were not bitten by mosquitos."
"There is ample parking, the trails are very clean, there are grills, and lots of benches to sit on throughout the preserve to admire nature or rest during a walk. The trails/paths are not difficult to walk. The trails are mainly flat, paved, but there are a few small inclines. The Lake is a great addition to the preserve park too. There are a few areas with docks that you can sit and enjoy the view and/or fish. You can also go inside the visitor center during open hours. There is music in the park and events in the summer. I noticed that someone had a drone and those are not allowed at this park. The park ranger asked the person to leave. Otherwise, it's a great place to walk your dog, enjoy a walk/run, and it's a peaceful environment to bring your family. There is art displayed throughout the preserve, which adds to the scenery. I have seen engagement photos, various family photo shoots, and senior pictures taken here too. If you can catch a glimpse of the sunset on the lake, it's a great photo opportunity as well."
