The Brothers Deli
About the Business
The Brothers Deli, located at 50 South 6th Street in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been a beloved institution for over 70 years. Originally founded by Mike and Dora Burstein in 1935 as Mike's Cafe, the restaurant was later taken over by their sons Leonard and Sam, who renamed it the Brothers Deli in 1959. The Brothers Deli quickly grew into a successful chain with multiple locations across Minnesota and North Dakota before being sold in 1983. In 1993, Leonard's son Jeff Burstein revived the Brothers Deli in downtown Minneapolis, and the restaurant has been a staple in the community ever since.
Known for their famous popovers and delicious half reuben sandwiches, The Brothers Deli offers a welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff who make every customer feel valued. Despite the challenges faced by many restaurants, The Brothers Deli has stood the test of time and continues to delight patrons with their tasty menu offerings.

"Excellent sandwiches and service. I use to lunch here regularly when I worked downtown. Made a special trip just to eat here and was not disappointed. My goto is Cousin Tony."
"The pastrami reuben is excellent! I also love the potato salad. It's creamy without being too heavy."
"Sandwich (which was not what I was going to order) ended up being pretty good. It was the Chipotle Turkey Melt on Ciabatta. Owner was taking the orders at the front, he was terrible. I couldn't even put in my order before he said, "I know what you want," and then pushed me along and moved on to someone else, whom he was equally annoyed with. I love, and appreciate, a loud "New York Style" deli, but this was not that, this was blatantly rude. It's unfortunate that I couldn't order what I wanted to order, I am sure it would have been wonderful. I was in a hurry and just let it slide since I was ordering for multiple people and didn't have the time or opportunity to go elsewhere. The two people working the register had to apologize to every customer coming through for the owners behavior. I feel that your staff should never have to apologize for you, nor should they ever be expected to work in that type of environment. No excuse."
"Picked up the Messy Bessy with potato salad for lunch. True to its name I went through the 3 napkins I grabbed. The sandwich, potato salad and pickle were delicious! Great spot for lunch in Minneapolis, reasonable prices, friendly staff."
"I have loved this place for years. They make wonderful sandwiches and salads. They have great soups. Every sandwich comes with a trip to their "salad bar" of sides which has one of the best potato salads in the world. The popovers are amazing. A side option, or you can buy them separately. My favorites apart from what was just mentioned: Thai crunch salad, Mama Dora, Kenny's California Reuben (on pumpernickel), Borcht and matzo ball soups. Another great sign, a lot of their employees have been here for a very long time. They must be treating them well."
