El Dorado Downtown Airport

"I learned to fly at this airport in 1984 and was taught by one of the finest men to ever walk the face of our planet, Mr. Barney Faulkner. He was an excellent teacher; the best ever. He always put me at ease when I was nervous and he was so patient. I’ll never forget all he taught me because he was so thorough.His favorite thing to do was quickly put the plane in a troubled situation, like cutting the throttle when I was in a steep turn or practicing stalls or put me in a spin. Then he’d always say, “you just lost your engine, what’s the first thing you do?” The correct answer is “look for a good place to land,” followed by several other actions. I always laugh, then shed a tear when I think of all the things he did for me (above and beyond) and to prepare me for almost any situation. He instilled a high level of confidence for me. I’ll never forget him and all the fun we had together. Barney has since gone to spend eternity with our Lord. God bless him."
