"Let me preface this by saying: DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE, REGARDLESS OF AGE OR REASON. Horrible traumatic place, I went here when I was like 7-8 and have never fully recovered from the trauma. The worst part is, at the slightest display of upsetness they will drug you to the point where you can't properly convey or feel emotions and lose your ability to form long term memories, they pick favorites with the patients, the food tastes like cardboard, sawdust, and plastic, and they patronize you for not eating it, and if you do eat it, they patronize you while eating it. The showers are cold and uncomfortable overall. The staff are abusive, emotionally, mentally, and socially, they treat you like you're the scum of the earth, constantly threatening to extend your stay, if you misbehave they will lock you in the building alone while the other kids go out to play and the staff leave the building to watch them, they don't investigate when your things go missing from your room, they don't bother to stop other patients from destroying your belongings and attacking you, if you get upset at something they'll keep you from celebrating holidays while all the other children get to celebrate, they don't bother to educate you at all even if you're there during the school season so once you're out you're playing catch up for a whole week up to 4 months. The fact I remember any of this is a combination of a miracle and the trauma being burned into my memory because they had me so doped up on medications that I couldn't form long-term memory properly or feel emotion properly, I have to agree with others when they say it's more of a prison than a hospital, the fact this place is still operating to this day is disgusting and appalling to me, if this is acceptable then we as a people need better standards for behavioral and mental health care. Whenever I was attacked by a 15 year old they told my mom that those kinds of scenarios are to be expected. The day this place becomes abandoned will not be a moment too soon. This place deserves to go under and be forgotten to time. Other than all that, the therapist I had was pretty nice and chill, I don't remember his name, but we played board games and he actually treated me like a human, so if you're reading this, you're a real one fr. Visitation was better than any other mental hospital I've been at, but that's not saying much. And the kids there (with the exception of the 15 year old who attacked me) were pretty chill and fairly friendly and kind, but that's not a reflection of the Hospital, but of the kids themselves. Anyways, like I said before, I hope this place goes out of business."
"I have been calling in for years making monthly payments, etc. i’ve recently been calling multiple times a day, multiple times a week for two months or more and no one would answer the phone or reply to left voice messages to take a payment for my child’s account and now I finally get a hold of someone else that I’ve not talked to before, but come to find out, they put me in collections. Have not received any mail regarding the account and months probably six months or more. Make sure adequate payment plans or forms of payment or talk to before sending someone to this location because now I’m having to deal with collections because people are incompetent and answering phone calls or calling someone back. The new person that I’ve been working with, has been helpful and has replied back on a timely manner with updates, but at this point it’s too late."
"My daughter has been sent here twice for her aggression/hurting others and threatening to hurt herself. This place has completed disregarded what her father and I have told them about her aggression and solely focus on her threatening self harm. They change her meds on day one and then set up a family session on day two and then immediately talk about discharging and sending her home. My daughter has been to multiple acute hospitals and a long term hospital as well and is steadily getting worse with attacking others (even police officers). During her first stay this hospital reported her dad to DHS because my daughter lied to them and said he hit her when she was the one who hit her father which was the reason we called the police and she got sent to Methodist in the first place. This time she has been there, the staff has been rude and completely unhelpful. The woman I spoke to yesterday said “we can’t keep her forever” when I asked her what we could do to keep her from coming home (maybe being sent back to residential?) because we are terrified of her and feel unsafe in our home. I told her I’m worried she is going to hurt her little brother. The woman ended up saying bye and hanging up on me after being rude. I don’t understand how they can say a child who has physically and verbally abused, bit, kicked, punched, slapped not only her family members but also law enforcement officials is safe to go back home after five days. They also called her father and mentioned our daughter having marks on her after police had to arrest her for her attacking them. The staff made it sound like the officers had abused our daughter when that was not the case at all. We witnessed her attacking the officers in our home and then she repeatedly hit her head into our tile floor on purpose to make said “marks”. This is what she does, so she can blame others and tell them she is being hurt. It’s very manipulative and this hospital just believes everything she says."
"I was a patient here in June 2021. I self harmed. I had 9 stitches on my arm and the staff members made me play volleyball for “good behavior points” and caused my arm to reopen and bleed. I was 16, now 18 wondering why people aren’t more aware that these places aren’t ran by actual health professionals just people there to get paid."
"The staff was great, The Unit 3 staff really helped me and I always knew I had someone to talk to. My therapist was super nice and always listened to my problems. But then the food was kinda trashy, the showers are cold and the rooms get so cold in the middle of the night"
