"What a nice man"

"Is there a zero star option? I am not a fan of Dr. Martin. He has a god-complex, acts like he’s the most intelligent person, doesn’t listen to his patients, and treats them in a very condescending way. I made an appointment with him because of GI issues. Rather than ask about that, he commented on my weight. Though he rarely takes the time to listen to his patients, or breathe, I managed to get a response out of him by stating, “that’s not why I’m here today. I want to know what I can do about my GI issues.” He was quiet for a whole 3 seconds (a new record!) I think his behaviour is due to seeing too many patients with different issues, and lacking trust in other healthcare professionals. He may benefit from decreasing the amount of patients he sees, but I think he likes his money too much. It seems like his goal is to get as many patients in and out of his office as fast as possible, while prescribing as many drugs as possible for those kickbacks. It makes me sad to see a doctor, who should have the goal of helping people, talk down to them, acting like they are not capable of caring for themselves. It is very unhelpful to make patients feel guilty about their health situations. For example, if a doctor told me, “Oh, if you had started losing weight 10 years ago, you wouldn’t have the problem now.” That kind of talk is not helpful at all. It leaves patients feeling confused, sad, and frustrated. How is that even remotely helpful?? If you like that kind of doctor with that kind of demeanor and bedside manner, feel free to make an appointment. I’m am very disappointed in Dr. Martin, and will be taking my business elsewhere."
