Reviews of Valvoline Instant Oil Change
"i love this spot. the techs are always so nice and lighthearted. they never make me feel stupid for not knowing what things mean and always take the time to explain. i always leave here with a smile. y’all are awesome"
"These guys helped me out of a jam with my oil filter stuck on my car. Juan, Trevor, and Jesiah. You guys are amazing. They were all super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. 10/10. Will only be getting my oil changed at this location hopefully with that team each time haha."
"Bad experience here. Technician got oil all over engine bay and didn’t bother to wipe it up. Also didn’t reset oil lights. Had to look up how to do it myself. What an inconvenience. Will never return or recommend others to come to this location."
"This was the third Valvoline I went to after the first had a 2-hr wait and the second didn't have the right oil filter. I almost never write reviews, especially negative reviews for specialized services like this because I don't even really know what an oil filter is, but I do know that first thing the guy working is guiding me into the spot like they do and he starts snapping at me to straighten it out. The wheel looks straight on my end so I say 'which way' and he just keeps yelling STRAIGHT and getting annoyed with me. I keep going what looks like straight to me and he gets more exasperated and keeps yelling to go straight. I ask which way to turn the wheel and he says, still annoyed, 'just keep it straight'. At this point a coworker steps in and does the 'to the left/right' thing and we figure it out, then she tells me that if the logo on the wheel is up then it's straight. It was up when I was driving in, that's what I meant. This is for sure a problem with my alignment or something but why would you just continue to say the same thing and get snappy at me instead of maybe recognizing that more guidance is needed, especially when I'm directly asking you for guidance? The second worker tells me the first one is new, but then she goes and gets all shady with him about me. He then went outside with another staff and she had to tell them both to come back in and keep working. Then I noticed that my invoice says they checked stuff they didn't, like another review said. The wiper check was just asking if my wipers work. But whatever at that point I just wanted to be done. So then the first person says I can turn on my car and pull out. I turn it on and every single dash light is on and it won't let me go into drive, just neutral. He's yelling at me to pull forward, getting annoyed again, and I said I can't, at which point he said oh sorry turn it off and on back on. I did and it worked fine. I pulled out and noticed that the oil message was still on and asked if he could reset it because I'm not sure how. He had to ask another worker to come do it. I'm sure from the shop's perspective I'm just some snippy person who doesn't know how to drive straight or reset the oil message, which may be an accurate description, but even the slightest bit of patience or communication would have improved the situation so much. A real mutual 'jesus christ get it together' moment for everyone involved. I won't be back and I think we'll both be better for it."
"This is a bit long but I had a terrible experience. I went here for my last 2 oil changes. My first was okay, except they took my air filter out without asking me. I usually change it myself. Also they used my front window as a tool holder. This last time I went they did my oil change, but couldn’t get my oil filter off. The manager (Arco is his name) told me it’s because my car has 250k+ miles. “These things happen when you have a lot of miles,” he said and that I would need to take it to a full service shop soon because they had dented the oil filter trying to get it off. He said they’d probably have to unbolt a few things to get at the filter. Then he said I was good to go, but it felt like they were trying to get me out of there before I questioned it. I don’t know a lot about cars but I know that high mileage doesn’t affect an oil filters tightness. THEY overtightened it. I stayed in the lot and called my regular mechanic to confirm they were feeding me bull. Went back inside and before I could finish my sentence the manager said, “Take it to a shop and bring the receipts, then we’ll talk.” Which means he knew they made a mistake and rather than try to fix it they lied to my face. My regular (out of state) mechanic wanted me to ask 2 questions. How much did they damage the filter? And was the oil change completed? I tried asking the manager and he lost his composure. “Every family has a mechanic, I’m just a glorified handyman!” When I asked if they finished the oil change and if it was the synthetic blend he said, “What do you think?” sarcastically. I didn’t raise my voice or blow up at all - though I should have after being blatantly lied to - and the manager threw a tantrum. He finished the conversation by basically slamming the door. Don’t go here. They cost me time off of work and a day without my car. How could you trust a place where the head manager thinks his customers are that naive? On the bright side I found a local mechanic that will do my oil for cheaper."
