"I have been going to Oxboro Family Dental for over a decade because they are kind, understanding and make accommodations as needed for their patients. When I first came to them, I had a fear of having dental work done in any capacity (from a long ago trauma in another state) and they calmed my fears. I will not go anywhere else now. One of the perks here is their machine that makes a new crown the same day you need it so there is no extra appointment to schedule for a crown fitting. I highly recommend them for your dental needs."
"Staff are so amazing!! Everyone was so nice and made the whole experience wonderful. Everyone is so knowledgeable and I left feeling like I had the most comprehensive exam I have ever had before! I needed a tooth pulled surgically and staff were able to get me into another clinic the same day to have it pulled ! Wonderful place!"
"I have a fear of dentists. It's been bad enough to warrant my avoiding their presence for the last 8 years. Between the pain and unnecessary procedures pressured onto you, it's a trip I've avoided for far too long. Today I went in for my checkup. I started the conversations with the hygienist and dentist the same way. Informing them of my fear of dentists due to pain and other things associated with them. Going as far as listing them as within my top 3 list of fears. The hygienist was amazing and had the manners of an angel. The testing went about as well as expected and my comfort was their primary concern. The dentist was a bit colder, but otherwise appeared quite knowledgeable. Going over the results was much of what I had anticipated prior to my arrival, but it felt good to be heading on the right track. Until the last thing the dentist discussed with me. I have a very minor overbite/openbite. It causes me no pain, nor jaw discomfort. I have no symptoms indicating TMJ nor other jaw issues. If it does affect my eating, it's about as minor as it comes. Maybe a slight lisp as well, but this has practically become my signature and it's not something I'm embarrassed about. It was not in my list of primary concerns, though I did crack a joke at it being difficult to eat salami sandwiches. This conversation is as follows: D: So are you wanting to shelf the openbite discussion? Me: Yes, let's shelf it. D: Why? Since we're doing this other work, leaving this as is may cause additional problems with the results of that work. We'd refer you to a specialist who's able to perform the openbite corrective surgery and have you eating salami sandwiches again. Me: With all this other work we're planning, I may want to discuss it again at the start of the next insurance cycle. D: Why? They don't cover much if any of this anyway since it's more about the jaw and not necessarily medical. Me: I suppose if insurance's hand in this isn't very helpful and it's going to ruin other work, I suppose we should plan for that. It didn't all really click until I got home and researched this surgery. Only to find it to be the most intense oral surgery I've heard of. I was expecting a root canal or another scary procedure to be a little nervous about. Instead of that news, I'd been recommended to have my top, bottom, or both my jaws sawed off, realigned, and stapled back together. Likely followed by braces and speech therapy. Then that last thing she said clicked. Not. Necessarily. Medical. Tell ya what, I'm no longer nervous about the extraction I'll need on my cracked wisdom tooth. New fears have been unlocked. When I said top 3 fears, I should have included they share that position along with bears and disappointing my family. This may have replaced bears on that list. If that was the goal, mission accomplished. Is that how you treat everyone that says they're afraid of the dentist? Unnecessarily recommending what's possibly the most painful procedure imaginable? Then pressuring us to go along with it? Easy to say I'll be going elsewhere for the medically required work I need done. Maybe if I omitted the details of my career I wouldn't have been recommended an unnecessary $20k-40k procedure insurance won't touch. Maybe if I spoke significantly more directly about my distain for unnecessary procedures. Thank you Oxboro. I will remember to inform whichever dentist I see next that I'm unemployed and destitute when asked what I do for work. If there's one thing we can rely on, it's corruption in medicine. Lying to your provider might just be the only option left. Not to mention, if openbite surgery is medically required, there's a case for it to be filed under your primary insurance. I wanted to like you, Dr. Sara H. Fam. However, this experience has tainted any interactions we could have moving forward. Please rethink your practice lest you find yourself losing it."
"After being a patient of Oxboro Family Dental for over 20 years, my latest experience with the new ownership has stunned me with the dishonesty, disrespect and disregard I was shown. I had made an appt almost 2 months in advance. Two days before the appt I got a call from them to remind me of my appt. and then informed me that I had an outstanding balance of $112.50 that I would need to pay. I said I would pay it when I came in later that week and was told I had to pay it right now or my appt would be canceled. I was a bit confused as I was unaware of any outstanding balance. I inquired as to what this was for, I was told it was from a visit in 2012. When I asked why I had not been made aware of this for 11 years I was told it had been sent to collections. This irritated me as I pay my bills and had this been a legitimate charge and I had been made aware of it would have been paid without being sent to collections. Having spotless credit, I was miffed about the reference to being sent to collections and told the caller that it was bit absurd that I was just hearing about this 11 years later. At his point she said I should talk to her manager. When her manager came on the line, I asked about why I had heard of this for 11 years and why it had been sent to collections. At this point I was informed that it had not been sent to collections and that they had never invoiced me for the charge. Now I had been told two different stories about the mystery charge and it seemed that someone was either lying or simply making things up. (Very professional!) The purpose of my upcoming visit was to have a dental appliance that they had made incorrectly looked at and rectified. The manager informed me that I would have to pay $300.00 to have it looked at and pay more to have it remade if incorrect. When I asked if she thought this was fair or reasonable, she got irritated and informed me that this is how it was going to be and at this point she was going to consider me to no longer be a patient of Oxboro Family Dental and hung up on me. So now after waiting for almost 2 months for an appt I was canceled as a patient without notice or a referral to another dentist as is required by the American Dental Association code of ethics. I was furious about the way that I had been treated when I got off the phone but allowed myself to cool off before responding in any way. A couple weeks later I sent Dr Fam a 2-page letter describing my experience at her practice and have never even gotten the courtesy of a response in over 2 months. So if you enjoy dishonesty, lack of concern, being disrespected as a customer, poor quality work and shoddy billing practices then Oxboro Family Dental is the place for you!"
"I cannot recommend this place enough! If you’re super anxious like me to go to the dentist, this place will take care of you. Anita was a delightful lady, she tried her best to make me feel comfortable, she has a calming energy which helped a lot. Dr. Sara Fam was kind and friendly! I’ve always had a bad experience with Dentist all my life and this place healed some of those trauma already in one visit. I am so excited to start my oral health journey with this team! Elle was also lovely! Everyone was so nice."
