Reviews of Springwoods Behavioral Health
"If you are looking for care for an extremely complex, challenging adolescent, I strongly recommend that you take your child someplace else. As a parent, I have never felt less care or empathy from a therapist than I did here. Our child has been in many facilities in the past few years, so that’s saying something. Our child required immediate admission to another acute facility upon discharge from Springwoods and left in worse condition than she had arrived in. Our case may be more extreme than most, but this facility was not able to help in any way, and it caused far more frustration than anything. We will not be using their services in the future, should the need arise."
"Springwoods changed my life. They truly care and want you to get better and succeed. They food is excellent and the staff is 2nd to none. Dr. Boydston is caring and finds the solutions you need. Best hospital i have ever been to."
"There’s very little I would’ve changed about my stay here. I can’t thank the staff enough. My APRN Erin was great as well as the therapist Elizabeth and many of the other nurses and techs (Krysta and Hailey especially). The assessment and intake process was not too bad. I called in advance to know if they had space available and they told me what I could bring and what to expect which was helpful. My first night I was scared and sad and one of the nurses treated me with kindness. All of the other patients were really nice and supportive in the women’s unit. We had multiple group sessions all day long, some of them were definitely more beneficial than others. Some groups ended up just being the techs giving us a paper that we had to fill out and that was it. If you look at the schedule we’re supposed to have, there were quite a few therapeutic things we just never did over the course of a week. We never got to go outside or to the gym like we were supposed to and I really wish we could’ve to be able to move our bodies. Other than group, we had tv to watch and movies or music, puzzles and some games if you asked for them, and a sad assortment of markers. Pretty much though, you could ask for anything and they would try to help like coloring pages or word searches. The food was pretty good but we definitely didn’t get enough time to eat especially if you were at the back of the line to get food. Another downside to me was the beds. Some people got quilts but they don’t have enough so I had 2 thin blankets and a thin pillow. Biggest issue was I wish we had more one on one sessions with a therapist. I only got to talk to someone if I requested it. But the care and kindness from the staff in the women’s unit made everything so much better. I’d recommend this place to anyone!"
"I came here during a big crisis and came out much different. During my week here I got diagnosed for depression and received better meds for my issues. While here I also got the great opportunity to meet other people who were having similar issues to me, and it made me realize that I wasn’t alone. I was also impressed by the meals. For hospital food I wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised."
"I have been to Springwoods twice for depression. I had previously been to another facility that was absolutely dreadful. At Springwoods, I was 100% treated with respect and never felt looked down upon. They keep you really busy with groups and activities. The food is amazing…like better than most restaurants haha. I only had one off-putting moment with a staff member but I got over it and still recommend this place. I came out both times with a new mindset and feeling encouraged."
