Reviews of About Smiles Dental
"This is the 2nd time my kids had a bad experience here. This place is great, don't get me wrong, the dentist is friendly and so are most of the hygienists, except for 1!!!!! I don't know her name, but she's a tall skinny blonde who is the MOST unfriendly hygienist I have ever come across... she doesn't talk, she seems annoyed and according to my 3 kids she's rough. My 6 year old kept asking for breaks cuz she was so rough and she completely ignored him. When she did give him a break she looked at me with annoyance !!! My 14 year old was dreading going here because of his previous experience with her, lucky for him this time he had the most awesome hygienist who was so friendly and outgoing and made him so at ease he is actually excited about going there now. Honestly I don't ever want her to clean my children's teeth again because my 6 year old is traumatized by his experience with her... This is just my experience and I will go here again. I just hope someone talks to this gal about how her attitude affects future patients."
"I love this place. Always the service is top notch. The staff is friendly. They are professionals at what they do. Everything is done very quickly and clearly. It is a pleasure to come in for appointments and cleanings. You will be impressed! Be sure to make an appointment if you have any issues with your smile or teeth. I give it 10 stars out of 10."
"Best Dentist in town!! Dr.Sampson make getting dental work a breeze! She is so gentle and really cares about her work. Her staff is great too! Love them!"
"It saddens me to write this review, and I’ve put it off for quite some time. As a Medical Assistance recipient, my options in town are limited as to who in town takes my insurance. There are two separate unrelated events that lead me to leave this dental practice. Historically, I had received compassionate care at this clinic and recommended them to anyone who was in search of a dentist. Regretfully, that is no longer the case. The first involved an unkind hygienist. I admittedly had lapsed in my dental care, which I take full responsibility for. But she was very rough and unkind when cleaning the plaque off my teeth. I was shaking and crying. I was not offered any comfort and it felt like the more discomfort I was in, the more rough she became. I had hoped it was a one off and that my future interactions with the clinic would involve the compassion I had previously received. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I had a medical emergency the weekend before my appointment. I had a medical emergency on a Saturday and an additional emergency room trip the following Sunday. I called over 24 hours in advance to cancel my Tuesday appointment. I had called on December 12 to cancel my December 14 appointment. But I was told that I hadn’t given ample time and I would be charged if they couldn’t find someone else to take the slot. I explained that I had an emergency medical procedure and an ER follow up for emergency pain console as I was outright inconsolable and not capable of functioning. I tried to explain that I was dealing with a medical emergency, but I was told since it wasn’t my mouth I would likely be charged. Not only was I charged, I was charged without being informed. I had all my appointments dropped. I was not told that they indeed hadn’t found someone to take the slot, so instead became my problem. I had time stamps showing that I had called over 24 hours in advance and would have been willing to show the medical records confirming the medical emergency. I had done everything right despite dealing with everything correctly but I was still the one facing the consequences. I was not officially contacted that I was charged or that my appointments were canceled. I didn’t know until I got an email saying I was behind on my dental care. While I was told this was a possibility, I wasn’t told that it had actually happened. I found out I had been charged when I logged on to my client portal when I got an email scolding me for having a lapse in my treatment plan. In the end, the charge was dropped. But I have no desire to return to the clinic, despite Medicaid options being limited in town. I no longer trust the office staff. Dr. Sampson is kind and compassionate. She’s probably the best dentist I’ve ever had, and I say that as someone who has gone through significant dental trauma. I felt safe in the chair with her at my side. However, the abhorrent treatment from other staff members makes the dental office unsafe. I can no longer recommend the office to people like me who have severe dental anxiety, and I can only hope there are changes made so others once again feel safe."
