Reviews of Daisys Uptown
"Yikes... Edit: Since there is a desire to know the particular reason for my review, I will post a longer version. My group of friends decided to give uptown a try. We had heard decent things about daiseys and decided to give it a try. The first thing I noted was the uniforms. Young women all in extremely short jean shorts and tank tops. I'm no prude, but uniforms express something about your establishment. Namely that you sexualize your all female wait staff. It's cringe and demeaning. When we were seated, we were surprised by the lack of renovation from cowboy slims. Pretty sure my table still had the stickiness only years of cowboy slims can provide. After waiting about a half hour, we were finally helped (she was pretty busy no biggie). That's when we received our menus by the way. We ordered drinks. Waitress said it was a full bar, so whatever we wanted. Everything up until this point was fine, not deserving of a poor rating yet. One of our friends ordered bullet rye neat. Two others ordered a dark and stormy. She came back minutes later stating she didn't know what those drinks were. A quick Google search would have helped her but we explained dark and stormy was a 3 ingredient drink. Lime, ginger beer, and dark rum. The bullet rye neat was a type of rye. She left and came back again stating they didn't have rye. That's fine, our friend asked for whiskey neat instead....she came back with a shot of bourbon in a plastic cup. The dark and stormy she brought back was awful, mostly because they used light rum. It's been over an hour at this point and we were just happy to have drinks and didn't want to make this waitress busier than she already was. We ordered food. That took quite awhile which is odd for a BBQ place, again, we are patient. However, when I say my meat was dry, I mean I wanted to dunk it in water just to get some moisture. Worse yet, everything was pretty bland. None of us 7 finished our meals. No one wanted boxes. The price doesn't match the quality for food or drink. The experience and atmosphere is dated and sad. Understaffing is the fault of management but the service was pretty weak as well. How do you have a bartender so utterly incompetent is beyond me. The whole experience served as a reminder of why I don't go west of lyndale."
"I got a beer, and a shot of mid level bourbon. The shot was $25.00 the bottle costs $29.00 I would understand if it were a higher-end bourbon, but regular Jefferson's NOT reserve, or ocean, is not worth $25.00 for a shot. I feel robbed. Do not go here."
"Came a week ago and it was a great experience so we came back. But today, on a Saturday night, wasn’t busy AT ALL…But the bartender downstairs wasn’t attentive one bit. There was 2(!!!) other people at the bar and we sat down, waited thinking he’d come welcome us, but I had to wave him down while he was talking with another coworker. I also didn’t receive the correct change but it’s okay I get it, I’m in the Industry too and promise I’d never complain but it was not the best experience and hope they get better cause I’d like to come back. Miss Slims and was hoping this would compare"
"Definitely a quieter venue, you’re not going to club here. Inside seems like the kind of bar you go to to watch the game and was not very packed (though you do need to go thru metal detectors). There’s two levels of rooftop bars which were very nice. Lots of seating and games like Jenga/Bags. A decent chunk of people, but it wasn’t crowded at 11pm-1am on a nice warm Friday night. I got the southern Daly (lemonade + ice tea moonshine, about $14) which was delicious and also MASSIVE. I figured it would be watered down since it was so big but I was definitely feeling the buzz when I finished."
"Dropped in for lunch. Wasn't aware that it had newly opened. The food was 'southern unique' and super delicious. Shrimp and grits were amazing. Had an issue with the food order and the GM was most helpful in quickly addressing. The Corn cake was delicious but takes a long time to prepare so beware. Another note is that the bathrooms are spacious and were spotless. To me, the condition of the restrooms is always an indicator of how much the leadership cares. Great addition to Uptown as its recovery kicks in high gear!"
