Reviews of W. A. Frost and Company
"WA Frost is easily our favorite place for a date night or gathering of friends. The service is everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We also appreciate the ambiance --the feeling of history-- the architecture, original artworks, plants, multiple fireplaces, and the amazing patio gardens in the summer all come together to create a unique environment. None of this would matter if the food was not exceptional, and it is. The chef always has something on the menu that I can't wait to try. The addition of a market steak option has been deliciously decadent every time! They also have an incredible wine cellar and extensive bar options--ask to see the wine cellar or scotch/bourbon menu!"
"Me and my S.O. went here for dinner before prom. This place was a perfect fit for the occasion, and my S.O., who is vegan. They ordered the Ratatouille, while I ordered pork chops. Both were fantastic, the best pork chops I've ever eaten. The service was great too, so friendly, and there was very little wait for the entrees and appetizers but, understandably, dessert took a bit longer to be served. We sat outside and the building is so aesthetic with the vines. We were 30 minutes late to our reservation, but they still kept a spot for us and they didn't even act like we were late. Be aware the menu changes often, so the dishes in this review may no longer be on the menu. This is literally the best restaurant I've ever been too. GO HERE!"
"A bit of condescension in the air There’s no doubt regulars to this place are treated like family, many patrons need not to even take a look at the menu and most even know the staff names. However, newcomers are treated with a bit of a condescending attitude, staff gets kind of annoyed when not knowing the place’s ways or kind of irritated when asked about this or that dish. All in all, although not unpolite, treatment is not what you would call warm. The patio is definitely the highlight of W.A. Frost and Company, though I have to remark that in early September, with temperature and humidity high, bugs were somehow annoying. I’d recommend a table not exactly next to the greenery. Moving on to the food (breakfast), unfortunately it only ranged on the ‘good’ tier, and coffee, well, was not exactly their forte. We had the French toast and the day’s special, salmon eggs Benedict, both unmemorable. Regarding coffee, the latte we had was poorly prepared, tasteless, and arrived cold. With respect to wheelchair friendliness, we accessed the locale through Selby Ave. and the route across the bar hall was a bit bumpy for a wheelchair, turned out there was a direct patio entrance on Western Ave N; a sign would have been appreciated. Once inside the patio is spacious and with numerous wheelchair accessible seating. Can’t understand why, with so many available tables, the host had to cram a table of 5 just right next to ours."
