"Came here with my wife for takeout. And the food wasn’t good and was premade already no more than 10 minutes from us ordering. The Greens were/are way too Salty, Mac & Cheese had no texture to it. The beans we just threw them out as well the cornbread wasn’t fresh. For the meats we only had the Half Slab and Half Wings and the meats was definitely not cook to orders as if it was already pressed cooked or maybe boiled but definitely not grilled as well for the Sauce needs a new ingredient because we had to use Sweet baby Ray just to finish our food. Not to bring this business down with a bad review but this should be a wake up call and on switching up a few things in the kitchen. I won’t say I wouldn’t go back but I hope this place would reinvent on the recipe on their food quality."
"Avoid St. Paul's "Stale Tips & Sticky Fingers": A Barbeque Disaster Beware, hungry travelers! If you're seeking smoky, tender BBQ in St. Paul, steer clear of [PITTSHACKBBQ]. My recent experience was a symphony of disappointment, culminating in the nastiest $24 I've ever spent on food. Rib Tips of Regret: I splurged on a large order of rib tips, expecting juicy, fall-off-the-bone goodness. Instead, I was served a reheated, over-microwaved mess. The meat, dry and flavorless, tasted like it had been simmering in its own stale juices for days, then doused in lukewarm BBQ sauce straight from the fridge. Each bite was a battle against gristle and disappointment. Double Whammy of Overcharges: To add insult to injury, my solo feast came with a hefty price tag. Not the advertised $20, but $24! Apparently, the cashier felt entitled to add her own tip, a practice as unwelcome as the rubbery, overcooked "rib tips." Service with a Side of Sighs: The service matched the food - lackluster and forgettable. The cashier seemed more interested in her phone than taking my order accurately, and the atmosphere was devoid of any warmth or BBQ charm. The Verdict: A Greasy, Grim Gripe-Fest My advice? Save yourself the stomach ache and the financial sting. Avoid [PITT SHACK BBQ] like a plate of burnt brisket. There are plenty of other, more deserving BBQ joints in St. Paul that will treat your taste buds and your wallet with respect. Bonus Tips: If you experience similar overcharging, politely dispute the bill and contact your credit card company. Share your experience with online review platforms to warn other diners. Vote with your wallet and support restaurants with better food and service. Let's keep St. Paul's BBQ scene sizzling with quality, not charring it with subpar experiences! Note: I've left the restaurant name blank to avoid potential defamation or libel claims. "Such a dissapointment. I have never written a 1 star review. I really like supporting local business (this place is maybe 3 or 4 blocks away from my house), but it was terrible and we will never go back. I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was nothing but un-rendered pork fat. I thought the first bite was maybe a fluke, but the entire sandwich was inedible. I had to throw it out and make something else for my dinner. My husband and his friend both got ribs. They said the ribs were ok, but seemed boiled or pressure cooked, and were ok but clearly not smoked. The sides were barely edible. Mac and cheese was crusted over like it had been reheated after sitting for a few days. Greens were the same. Cornbread was dry. Between the 3 of us, we barely ate and threw out most of it. Do better. Your prices are high and you make food that I wouldn't serve to anyone. I really like supporting local business, but this place was so bad that I had to add my two cents so that no one else wasted their time here."
"I had ribs, Mac n cheese and greens. Would not recommend. They charge way too much and the the BBQ sauce is watered down, and the drenched my ribs with it. The Mac n cheese and greens were not good. I was trying to be supportive of black business. But I wouldn't eat there again"
"I ordered the rib tips combo meal, 2 beef links, and chicken wings. You can choose from three types of sauces for the meats (mild, spicy, bbq). The beef links were huge and they were great with the bbq sauce! Rib tips and chicken wings were good with the mild sauce. Pitt Shack is a new decent bbq option in St. Paul."
