Painted Rock Petroglyph Site and Campground is a historic and sacred archaeological site located on Rocky Point Road in Dateland, Arizona. This site features hundreds of petroglyphs carved into rocks by indigenous peoples centuries ago, as well as inscriptions from historic travelers. The campground offers 59 individual campsites and two group sites with picnic tables and fire rings, surrounded by stunning desert scenery and diverse plant and wildlife. Visitors can explore hiking trails, birdwatch, stargaze, and enjoy the peaceful solitude of the desert landscape. The nearby day-use site features shaded picnic areas and interpretive displays. Accessible via paved and dirt roads, this campground is suitable for larger RVs and trailers. Be sure to check weather conditions before visiting, as flash flooding can occur during monsoon season. With panoramic views of Oatman Mountain and the Painted Rock Mountains, this campground provides a unique opportunity to experience the beauty and history of the Arizona desert.

"This BLM site is fantastic. No hook ups, a pit toilet but no showers. Plenty of hiking and ORV wheeling but please be respectful and follow all signs. Now to that woman who screamed and yelled at us for taking our jeep on the trail, the trail marked "no camping". I called the BLM office and asked. In fact, you are allowed to drive on that trail. As you said, you are 3rd generation Arisonian, you should know the sign facing the terrain meant no driving on that, "NOT" the trail. I suggest with the big chip you have on your shoulder about out of state people ruining AZ to stay home! You are not a kind and compassionate person. After you left all the campers here had a great time."

"About 20 minutes from the highway, and make sure you use your GPS to get there. The road's not well marked. Beautiful opportunity to see some of the native American history of Arizona! Short walk around the mound of petroglyphs."

"We enjoyed camping here. Sites are far apart and fairly level. Dry camping with pit toilets. Please get a reservation. We had to ask someone to leave our site. They thought it was a first come first serve. We met a historian who explained so much about the area. Enjoyed the Petroglyphs and the explanations of the drawings. The Butterfield trail came through here. Thank you for a great visit."

"Excellent place to camp for a night. Campsites are spacious and sit far apart. Incredibly quiet and wide-open. The nearby petroglyphs are interesting and there’s a day use area. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. Best for RVs, vans, trucks. But you could pitch a tent, just don’t have a lot of privacy. This is a beautiful, remote, find that makes you appreciate work done by the Bureau of land management and national parks / national monuments."
