"I will say I went in about 25-30 minutes before closing, however the food shouldn’t be terrible regardless! We had to take it to go and I was fine with it. I was so disappointed when I got home to eat with my sister. We both agree this was horrible and tastless. When I was waiting for them to make the food, I even went up to the counter to make sure they gave us enough banchan for 3 dishes I ordered. It was such an insult how much they packed!!! It wasn’t even enough for a toddler. That’s seriously the favorite part of eating Korean food are the side dishes like the kimchi. I spent over $48 something plus a tip. If I only knew. I wouldn’t waste my time going there. The broth I had asked them to make it mild, but even then it was tastless! It shouldn’t be… It definitely wasn’t traditional Korean soup I’ve had before. There was no color and it tasted like hot water with barely some salt/spice. There weren’t even any green onions or an egg in all 3 soups! The quantity of seafood was 1 shrimp and a 2-3 oysters and a maybe 2 clams. The bibambop was decent but the beef was cold and for $18 they did me dirty with the amount. Everything was terrible and I felt cheated. I definetly won’t ever go back. I think the reviews that are good are people who sit and eat there. Otherwise they would get up and have them remake it again. Don’t waste your money. Below a 0 if I could rate it that. (I’m so mad that my grammar may be off, but I just wanted to put it out there… Terrible experience.)"
"My first time here, and I loved it. I have the lunch special with spicy pork and beef dumpling soup. It was very good!!!"
"Some of the best Korean food I’ve had! We got soup as an appetizer, but honestly I would get it as my meal next time because it was so good!"
"This place is legit!! Soon doo boo jjee gae!! 순두부찌개!! In Minnesota?? You betcha!!! The set menu with Bibimbap or the set menu with Spicy Pork are very good value. This spot is a great asset to the U of M campus!! Five stars!!!"
"To be honest, I have waited for a while prior to deciding to write this review because I wanted to wait I had enough pictures. However, I could not wait anymore as the world needs to know this place, and their value does not depend on the way their food looks. First of all, it is definitely a "hole in the wall" place that you should just come, eat, and leave, as chances are others will be waiting for seating. This subsequently also means they have bomb food. Their kimchi tofu stews are probably some of the best I have had anywhere in the United States, including places in big cities like New York, Los Angeles, etc., so that says a lot. The boiling silken tofu soup, the meat / kimchi / others, and the raw egg to drop into the stew, everything was just authentically perfect to the maximum. I also love their bulgogi and bibimbap, which I have had in addition to their stew, despite the fact that I just love those two food items in general from anywhere almost. Even if I am not too much of an expert on Korean food, I have had plenty throughout childhood since I grew up around Koreans due to my hometown having a huge Korean population, so I don't think I am making an exaggerated statement here. Plus my friends who have been in Minnesota for school and such have literally said the same thing ever since they had left Minnesota for other big cities in the United States. I have not tried their ramen yet, but I have no doubt it is going to be great. Other than food itself, the place is extremely affordable, and at this age, to remain as such an economical establishment is definitely not easy, and I would love to support them in whatever way possible. Whenever my friends visit me, I ensure I bring them to Kimchi Tofu House for the food, as long as they are okay with Korean food. If you are reading this, please help support this business as well because it is truly a gem and deserves to remain such for students across campus and other citizens alike! Oh, and make sure you come earlier than later because there is not a lot of seating at all and this place can be super packed, especially on Saturdays."
