Tavern At The Park Okoboji

"Things started OK tonight and Rico, our server, did a great job. We chose a new (to us) Zinfandel wine that turned out to be very good. My wife enjoyed her lasagna. But my meal was not at all good: Supposedly spaghetti and meatballs, the pasta was 5/8-inch wide noodles; the two 5 oz. (as advertised) meatballs were grossly overcooked; and the marinara sauce was way too spicy. The menu is pretty limited so we are unlikely to return, even though we live about 15 minutes away. Sorry, Rico----not your fault......."

"I would like to start this off by saying this is not on our server. I hate leaving low star reviews but this was a bottom three experience for me. Drinks were good. However, main courses sat under heat lamps for over 15-20 minutes. We know because we watched. When the food arrived all but one plate was cold. We sent the food back, it was just thrown into a microwave. The cooks and manager (if there was one on tonight) are to blame. Timing of when food goes to the window is very important. Unfortunately we were not the only table to send food back. Multiple tables around us sent food back as well. Tab was still over $200 for six of us. Nothing was taken off, server did his best to apologize but everything was awful. Awful."

"Waited 50 min for our food and it came out cold as we watched it sit under the "heat lamps" for a long time. Meanwhile open tables are in the restaurant. This was our first time here to eat during vacation, and I would not recommend this place for food or good service. Drinks were the only good thing to wait for. Don't come here to eat dinner if are in a hurry because it will take forever and food will come out cold."

"Favorite place for us local folks. Friendly. Family owned and run. Lots of flavors. Unique and high-level dishes-not the same things you see all over town. And best local burger. Generous portions-we always take some home."

"I had a tasty and relaxing lunch this week at The Tavern. I was on a mission to try the Cornflake chicken sandwich. It did not disappoint. It was extra special to meet and chat with the owners who were attentively focused on every detail. The chicken was tender, juicy, fried just right, with a nice crunch of Cornflake and savory sauce that made the sandwich! I’m looking forward to returning and trying more menu option. This place is a hit!"
