My Place Hotel-Grand Forks, ND,

"The staff are excellent and the suite shop is well stocked but the price for the hotel was high for a room that didn't include even toast for breakfast without paying an extra fee. The ice maker in the freezer barely worked, it took over 3 hours to make just 15 ice cubes and is very loud and wasn't turned on before arrival as I had requested when I booked the room. The room comes with a full size fridge, cooktop, microwave, coffee maker and toast but there is no cookware, flatware, dishes of any kind not even a glass or coffee mug. Other suite hotels charge the same amount or slightly more per night but give you dishware, flatware and a pot and/or pan. Lastly and most importantly, the beds are wayyy too soft. We barely slept all night they were so bad."

"Very disappointed!! Concert was canceled and they refused to refund even partial of the $500 for one night stay! I spoke with several ppl even corporate and My Place said since I booked it with Expedia there is no refund! Expedia was also very disappointed! Will never book a room here again!"

"My family and I were looking for a longer-term hotel to put relatives in while they were here for graduation and a little bit afterwards, so they were going to be here about six weeks in total. Another graduation family told us to contact my place. The front desk girl on the phone told us that it would only be $300 for a month stay. We booked it for our family and continued with our plans. The day that our family arrived at the airport, we went and picked them up and brought them to this hotel. Upon arriving, the front desk chick stated it was $2700! We were floored! Not only did we call multiple times and make sure that we documented the information we received from the employees we spoke to, we double checked with them on the phone to verify the information they had given us. It was confirmed by the initial front desk person. So they all lied to us. We decided that was outrageous for such a 2 star, rundown place that our family was solely going to sleep at and nothing else. Our family did stay 3-4 days until we made other arrangements. The things that we all noticed in the room is that everything is yucky, run down, broken, and dirty. The bathroom needs a severe remodel as it was MOLD CITY! The room was covered in dirt and grime. The beds sink in the middle. The carpets smelled like really old mildew. People smoked in this building and I’m positive that’s against the law. We couldn’t wait to get our family out of there! We ended up at a hotel across the river and it was only about $1800 for a 4 week stay. That place was far better than myplace. Get better management, housekeeping, and front desk staff! This was truly a pitiful experience. We paid my place about $4-500 for 4 days. That’s ridiculous."

"This place is awesome! I will say one of the best qualities about My Place is the staff. The staff is extremely friendly...I would say above friendly like family. If you have an issue(rare a minimal issues) they are on it, just like a family member who is hosting you. You can have the best hotel but if you don't have a great staff your hotel stay isn't going to be great. My Place is not a bad hotel at all and has an awesome staff. The location is really convenient also. you can walk across the street to events or even to the convenient store . everything is minutes away. I recommend this hotel 100%."

"I would give it a zero if I could. Even before we checked in, the front desk service was rude and short with me. I had called to ask if we could check in early and was continually told to call back the next day. The day of check in, I called about an hour away and they said to come by to see. When we arrived we were bluntly told check in was at 3:00. They did not ask if I was a member (which I found out later if I signed up for the free rewards, check in was at 2:00). We returned to the hotel after 3:00 to check in. One of the staff (I think the manager) continually cut off or spoke over the clerk that was checking us in. I was told my room should be clean but I should go upstairs and check and let them know if it was dirty. My family went upstairs and not much of a shock, but the room we were given was trashed. On the elevator ride back down we ran into the housekeeper. She said that wasn’t even on her list to clean today. She is the only positive about this whole experience. She gave the front desk the list of rooms that were clean and waited until we were assigned one of those. Another guest that had checked in before us came back down as well because her room was also dirty, but she paid a housekeeper $20 to clean it. The room themselves are nothing special. Having nothing in the cupboards is very inconvenient for travelling needing to bring your own pots and pans. The two burner cooktop only had the little burner working. Luckily, my family was able to reconnect the bigger burner that had disconnected at some point before us. The fridge is right beside the door, so if anyone opens the hotel room while someone is looking in the fridge they will hit the fridge door. The toaster only worked if you held down the handle the whole time and the beds were old and saggy and not comfortable to sleep on. The lounge only had coffee, cream and sugar. For the price you pay, you would assume should at least be some muffins or something for people to eat. Considering they share the same lot as staybridge, we were expecting similar service. Oh how wrong we were. If you are coming to Grand Forks, choose a different hotel!"
