Wild Burro Day Use Area

"Go early in the day on weekends. We got there around 10 a. m. Sunday. By noon people were lined up at the entrance and the road in was very busy. The trail is easy but rocky. It's littered with burro poop. So you gotta watch where you're going. The lake view was nice and seeing the burro was a treat. Wildflowers were in bloom but very sparse. By the time we finished at noon it was getting too hot. There is very little shade on this trail. I wouldn't need to revisit this trail a second time"

"Quiet, off the beaten path with restrooms at the parking lot. My favorite use area to hike out of."

"What more could you ask for? Access to the park requires a fee: day use, Overnight camping, reserved RV spots, restrooms, and more. Wild Burros were bucking about as I pulled into this area. Aside from one other vehicle, I had the place to myself. Bring water, sunscreen, ankle protection/boots, and plan-ahead! The nearby visitor center/lookout is worth a visit too. Pack it in. Pack it out. Take a little extra out if you can too."

"Quick short 4.1 mile hike. Started at the south Trailhead, so the first half was all incline. Wasn’t lucky enough to witness any wild life but the hike was incredible peaceful. Toward the end, on my way back, the crowds started. Go early."
