"A Hidden Oasis: The Turtle Pond at the University of Arizona Nestled in the northwest corner of the University of Arizona's bustling campus lies a serene sanctuary known as the Turtle Pond, also affectionately called President's Pond. This unassuming gem, easily missed by the hurried passerby, offers a welcome respite from the desert heat and the academic grind. The pond itself is a modest size, adorned with lush greenery and shaded by mature trees. This creates a microclimate, offering a cool escape from the scorching Tucson sun. While the resident turtles bask on rocks or glide through the water, visitors can relax on nearby benches, enjoying the gentle sounds of chirping birds and the calming gurgle of the water feature. The pond's charm lies in its simplicity. It's a place to de-stress, clear your mind, or simply observe the natural world. Students use it as a quiet study spot during breaks, while others come for a moment of reflection amidst the day's activities. The pond becomes a vibrant social hub in the evenings, with couples enjoying a romantic stroll or friends catching up under the starry desert sky. While the main attraction is undoubtedly the turtles, the pond also attracts a variety of other wildlife, including fish and the occasional blue heron. This adds to the tranquil ambiance, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts. Whether you're a student, faculty member, or simply visiting the University of Arizona, the Turtle Pond is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. It's a testament to the power of small, green spaces to provide a much-needed oasis in the heart of a busy urban environment. So, take a break from the hustle and bustle, find a spot by the pond, and let your worries melt away in this unique sanctuary."
"No turtles in winter lol. I wonder where they put them. But the pond is really nice"
"So pretty and in a lovely cool and shaded place. A nice place to take a break and enjoy the turtles. :)"
"These turtles are out in 110 degree weather and right next to a street with traffic. Does anyone check on these poor animals to make sure they are okay? What do they eat? They have nowhere else to go. This is not okay."
"I had a pleasant time studying by Turtle Pond. It's truly a hidden gem on campus and certainly will bring joy to anybody who visits. The pond is abundant with turtles, small fish, and what I believe to be giant goldfish. The trees provide plenty of shade to sit down and relax even on a hot day. It's a regular spot for me now :)"
