Reviews of Havasupai Tribe
"Beautiful landscape. The village is very poor and secluded. Be prepared to be shocked. You would think that with all the fees they charged, the people would be better off economically."
"This tribe is so generous for opening their doors to the public. Please treat the people and their natural surroundings with utmost respect."
"The views and trails were beautiful. The locals not so! If you want to go somewhere you are not wanted go to the town. The store overcharges and tries to add items to your bill without you knowing. The food at the only restaurant is dog food. The people are generally overtly rude and service is non existent. On the way out our car was broken into with only make up and underwear stolen, but the car will have a $2000 repair. If I ever go again I will pack everything in and be self sufficient, I will not leave a dollar. The place is beautiful, waterfalls amazing."
"Plan this trip. Do your homework. Reservations. You should be able to carry your pack, ten miles desert hiking conditions. We stayed in Flagstaff, drove to the trail head then hiked down. Respect the locals. Don't be a goof ball in the village, save that for the campsite. There is a cafeteria where you can get pricey, but good food spiced with hunger. Plenty of spring water at campsite and water at tourist office. Fine sand and dusty trails in the village. Wish I took my toe shoes. There is a post office. You can ship heavy stuff out with a flat rate box or even mail stuff down ahead of time and pick it up at the p.o."
"The most wonderful spiritual experience I've ever had! But, prepare yourself, two months every day Squawpeak mountain perimeter and one Summit For good stamina. 11 miles in easy 11 miles out hard- suggestion take the helicopter out!"
