Reviews of Sears Carpet Cleaning & Air Duct Cleaning
"SCAM ALERT: If I could give negative stars I would. We scheduled an aid duct cleaning with Sears, estimate was $600 for our whole house. The technician, Randy S. showed my mom a picture of an old, dirty air handler that wasn't even ours, and wanted to charge her $2,400 to disinfect and seal the leaks in the system. My mom was home when Randy arrived, she called me at my son's soccer game and said the tech showed her a picture of the air handler and it was full of dirt, he said there was tape on the air ducts and leaks everywhere. He wanted to charge $2,400 to disinfect the air handler and seal the duct work. We were home about 10 minutes later and I went into the attic; Randy had removed a bunch of the metal tape sealing the panel on part of the air handler where the coils were, he left wads of tape laying around and didn't re-seal holes or access panels where he had removed tape. The inside of the air handler had some dust and dirt in the bottom, but nothing like what he described and he definitely showed my mom a different picture than our system. I took pictures and showed her to confirm this. Once I was in the attic Randy finished his work and left as fast as he could. We never got our receipt, my mom called twice and Sears said they would email it but they never did. I ended up buying some metal tape for $13 at Home Depot and re-sealed the panel, gaps & holes Randy S. left. Imagine how many customers they scam out of thousands of dollars, if a homeowner doesn't regularly go into the attic or isn't familiar with their own HVAC system. I don't know if this is Sears' upselling method or if it's just what Randy did. It's sad because Sears used to be our go-to when we needed carpets or air ducts cleaned at our old houses."
"Made an on line appointment. I had an email confirmation but not a follow up confirmation of time. Three calls to the Sears number without a response from the local office. We’ve used Sears for years. Normally they are awesome. Not this time. We canceled. All that after moving furniture."
"On Wednesday May 8 2019 we had our carpets cleaned and treated at a cost of $235.00. Upon completion we inspected the five areas and they seemed to be acceptable so we paid the technicians. After returning from shopping we discovered that the carpets were so wet that the surfaces had lifted as much as 3-4" and some edges of the carpet had pulled from the wall. (see photo) When we reported the problem they promised to dispatch a team to assess damage immediately. Shortly after this promise was made a supervisor called and stated that it was normal for carpets to lift and if the carpets pulled from the wall it was because of poor installation not Sears cleaning. I shared with him that the carpets had been cleaned many times before and we never experienced this problem. I then asked him how he could come to this conclusion without seeing the carpet and he became rude and said he would help me file a claim against the installer but refused to accept responsibility for the damages. Our carpets took almost 48 hours to fully dry (even with fans blowing on the carpets and the AC on). Sears never circled back to review the damage or called to follow up. It is obvious that they have moved on to the next customer. Sears also has a problem with its vehicle and or steam cleaner leaking oil. The pavers on my driveway were cleaned and prepped for sealant but now have a puddle of oil on them. So now I have to find something to clean the pavers with. So much for the Sears 30 day guarantee LOL. I have been a loyal Sears customer for over 40 years but will never recommend Sears for any service again. I have contracted a professional carpet layer to repair the damage as I am certain that Sears is not interested in supporting any claims made. So I am out $130 for damage caused by shoddy workmanship, a puddle of oil in my driveway, and 48 hours with furniture in the hallway. Stay away from Sears if you can. There are many great carpet shampoo companies out there that will clean your carpet without the unnecessary, costly, and time consuming drama."
"The two men that came to my house were incredibly professional and helpful. I had shopped around between several different companies and instantly felt like I made the right decision once they arrived. The office kept in good contact prior to their arrival and they were on time! They also sent a picture of the techs that were coming to my house which made me feel more comfortable. The service was done remarkably quickly and I notice a difference in the carpets. It has been 2 days since the service and all the areas they cleaned have dried well and still look great."
"Marvin came out to my house and cleaned the cloth seats of my daughters car. The results were better than expected. The before and after is nearly unbelievable. He did a great job in a short amount of time and I'd use him again in a heartbeat. Thanks Marvin!"
