"My limited experience with J & J endocrinology and Dr. Barsony was abysmal. However, saying I had an experience at all with Dr. Barsony might be a stretch, as I only delt with her through intermediary parties. After being referred to her, I received a phone call from her secretary who was directed to question me about why I had been referred, as my TSH levels were normal. Even though I thought it was unusual to ask a patient why they had been referred as opposed to the referring agency, I obliged. I explained my thyroid had been radioactively ablated, and that, despite TSH normalization after treatment with Synthroid, I was continuing to have residual symptoms. There is recent published and peer reviewed research, which I also mentioned, which explains that TSH levels are an imperfect measurement of euthyroid, and that 15-20% (or more) of all patients who are considered stabilized continue to have symptoms. The term "clinically significant" is sort of a euphemism in this context. See the publications titled: "Comparative Effectiveness of Levothyroxine, Desiccated Thyroid Extract, and Levothyroxine+Liothyronine in Hypothyroidism," "Primary hypothyroidism and quality of life," "Hypothyroid Symptoms in Levothyroxine-Treated Patients," and "Does TSH Reliably Detect Hypothyroid Patients?" In my correspondence with one of the authors of those articles, I have come to understand the issue well. Even if Dr. Barsony philosophically or theoretically disagrees with these recent publications, peer-reviewed by experts in her field, one would think that her oath as a medical professional might have inclined her to take a measurement of my thyroid hormone concentrations by mass spectrometry or at least to have seen me. Although it is possible that I have, in the time between the development of my hypothyroidism and the manifestation of these symptoms which were previously attributed to that condition, developed a second condition that perfectly mimics every symptom, I do not have such an alternatively explanative diagnosis. The lack of an explanation for the serious symptoms that I am experiencing might drive some physicians, either by a sense of duty or simply by compassion, to, at the very least, rule out a potential cause or to investigate further. Despairingly, Dr. Barsony's staff called to inform me that she had rejected my referral, which will undoubtedly complicate future treatment for me, a genuine harm in effect. The reasoning provided was quite loathsome, considering the research available. I was told that I could not be seen because my TSH levels were normal. Truly, this opinion seems dated to a lay person, and incorrect according to the experts I have spoken to. I am left to assume that Dr. Barsony either no longer reads the research in her field or has taken up an ideological position against that research to the detriment of myself at least, and perhaps to others. Even my most generous take, that her staff simply did not communicate my situation effectively to her, does not mitigate the outcome, which necessarily depended on her obstinance to the idea that I might have treatable endocrine symptoms, despite normal TSH levels."
"After trying for years to find a good doctor in Tucson, I am grateful to have found Dr. Chris Marsh. I followed him from his former office at NW Allied Physicians to his current practice at J&J Medical. Dr. Marsh always makes sure to address my concerns and genuinely seems to care about me as a patient and my overall health....and he doesn't rush through our appointments. He is professional and very down to earth. His office staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate and caring doctor."
"I saw Dr. Patel for many years and she was wonderful! She recently retired and Dr. Marsh took over her practice. I am healthy young individual that does limited visits. On my first and last visit to Dr. Marsh I was 5 minutes late, trying to get kids out of a car and holding doors open for other patients to not crowd the wait room during COVID19. Then after sitting for 10 min I was told due to me being tardy he wanted to reschedule out. Keep in mind I drive 45 min to see good Doctors here. Then this. Obviously Dr. Marsh thinks he is doing me a favor."
"I worked here... and please do not trust this place... this place has sanitary issues and they do not care to fix it. The management is a party animal that doesn’t care about anything going on in the office.. there’s a lot of unprofessionalism going in specially with the laboratory.. they use new medical assistant student to draw blood( no training at all) the only training they get is the first patient they poke.. this place is KNOWN to the patients for being poked by the medical assistants multiple times.. they never get your blood the first try.. the lab isn’t clean at all... there’s pee everywhere and the medical assistants don’t wash they’re hands once.. trust me I worked there and was horrified by the situation.. I had to quit due to hearing so many bad things and seeing them that I thought we would get sued..."
"Dr Vinus Patel is very personable, she is awesome"
