"I could give a list of things of this, but basically: Staff is friendly, but classes are basic at best. There's no real growth with training. If you're starting from nothing of course you'll see progress, but anyone with training would be wasting time here. If you're looking for weightloss, conditioning, or wanting to learn some self defense. There are in my opinion, other gyms in the chandler area that are better and give you more than a one class free to train with them. I've seen the other classes and belts train and its not worth your money nor time."
"(Proper review/Reply to the owner.) Like I stated; I felt your gym is a joke and I could buy my way to your advance level. Your gym is unsafe. You teach people who get your free class, or it's their first day with no prior experience, gun defense without teaching them how to properly punch or kick. During my time there you very rarely taught defense. No one in your gym knows how to block a hook, jab, tackles, nor any leg kicks. Only defense was bridging and gun sweeping. And you taught this 3-5 times a week. There were three classes in a week you taught bridging. You only taught the same 5 techniques. Normally I am cool with learning the same thing so it can come naturally, but when I questioned you about it. It seemed like you knew the vocab, but not the motions. If you don't know it, you don't know it. It's not that I'm not coachable, you just don't like people asking questions. We ask questions to understand and get better. I sparred with the people in your "advance" class, most dont know how to throw a hook, kicks, nor proper elbows. They can only do whats in ANY OTHER GYMS lower level class. If they went to any other gym they will see how terrible they were taught. You teach simplicity, but not fluidity. Beg to advance, moves like robots. Your "combat" sparing classes are truly sad. Your gym has to contract people because within a month they realize there are better gyms. I talked to members who have prior experience and given the chance they would leave. Please stop teaching people on their first day how to unsafely take a shotgun away. Please teach them about how the should stand and form. What a proper punch (hook, jab, cross, uppercut) is. Please teach knees, kicks(properly), elbows(properly)."
"I’ve been going to “typical” gyms/weight rooms my whole life but decided to give React Defense a try last year as a way to switch up my workout and also for a mental escape from COVID. This place is phenomenal for learning real life self defense with well trained instructors but beyond that it’s the most fun I’ve ever had working out and has helped me get into better shape than I have been at other gyms where it’s easy to slack off. It’s also a great place to get to meet new people that you’re training with and they offer numerous different types of classes and constantly mix things up so it never gets boring. With all of the pandemic related frustrations, it’s an amazing and productive stress reliever, especially after having a long day at work. I’ve recommended this place to numerous friends of mine and will continue to do so"
"Michael is awesome and the classes are truly friendly for all skill levels!!! I'm learning new skills and also feel myself getting stronger. I get excited to go to class, and regret days I don't go. I can say confidently that great care is taken towards us students, because student safety is the top priority. The instructors will go around and make sure to provide friendly corrections as needed when you're running drills so you can develop proper form. The only thing I wish this location had is Friday evening hours, but it did give me a chance to check out the Phoenix location, and they're awesome too! RANT AHEAD The only issue I've had is that during one class (so far) I overheard constant chatter while instructors were giving demonstrations (this pair was also treating drills like they were hanging out at Starbucks. There's a time and a place for that, and TB ain't it). To be clear, THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE SCHOOL ITSELF, this is an issue with other students' behavior. I found this disruption extremely rude and disrespectful to the instructors and the other students since we're there to learn (and I have ADHD, so I already have a tough time focusing without distractions like that). We all pay our dues and that hour is for learning."
"Went in for the free trial class after my cousin raved about the training even though I had none, zero, no previous self-defense training. I loved the first class, but signed up for one month just in case I wasn't committed. There was no pressure from anyone there. I loved the first month and signed up for a year that flew by, and I just signed up for my second year. The instructors are amazing and teach the techniques step by step. I love the training, and the instructors and students are great, and everyone is encouraging and nice."
