"My horse Oscar has a puppy dog personality with a horrible fear of everything. His go to reaction with anything new is being terrified (snorting, backing up, total concern - the horse equivalent of quaking in fear). The big boogie man being black nonslip mats. Oz was terrified of them to the point that he was scared of barns that had black mats and would start getting anxious if he even knew there might be one close by - he wouldn’t even go into our barn. Within two weeks of our 30 day training with Dee, Oz is already standing in the barn on black mats, relaxed. But even more than that, I’m seeing his confidence grow. He’s now willing to investigate things that would previously cause him fear (puddles, poking crinkly water bottles with his muzzle, etc). Dee has helped Oz learn how to trust himself and his people when it comes to new things. It’s been incredible to watch Oz become a more confident version of himself and start exploring new things on his own instead of just automatically being afraid. Dee truly took the time to understand where Oz was coming from and not just force Oz onto a black mat and call it a day, but take the time to desensitize Oz (something he was sorely missing) and return to basics so he could build up Oz’s confidence, understanding, and ability which not only solved out black mat issue, but will set us up for success with future situations. Dee has a very patient, problem solving approach that is truly personalized for each horse and focuses on giving them the tools and confidence to overcome whatever problems stand in their way. He met Oz where he was and has truly helped him while teaching me the best ways to support Oz through his fears. From a people perspective, Dee is professional, an excellent communicator and clearly laid out what he thought Oz needed and how he was going to approach the problem, he knows his stuff but without the “know it all” attitude you sometimes get with trainers, and has been a wealth of information without it every feeling judgy. If you are looking for any sort of training I HIGHLY recommend his work."
"I cannot give this place enough stars. The instructors are incredibly experienced, patient, and always push me to the next level. I cannot recommend them enough!"
"I have been taking lessons from Lucy for 3 and a half years. I am a timid rider and she has increased my confidence immensely. I feel much safer riding and have come a long way. She is conscious of the rider and horse in terms of safety."
