Joseph S. Janik MD: Pediatric Surgery

"Joseph S. Janik, MD. 23 years ago my youngest child, Jesse was born with a congenital cyst on his tiny lung. He could barely breath and was taken, hooked up to tubes and machines, by ambulance 60 miles to Denver Children"s Hospital where he was taken into surgery. Dr Janik was the surgeon who removed the cyst and a portion of the upper left lobe of Jesse's tiny lung. He only weighed 5½ lbs. The last month or so of his fetal development and growth had been adversely impacted by the cyst, and he was very small. It had to have been an extremely delicate operation. Dr. Janik saved his life. He would have died with out the surgery. I never got to meet Dr. Janik, as I had had a c-section and was still in hospital 60 miles away. He called me after the surgery, but I have never felt like I was able to show him enough gratitude. I owe him so very much. To me he is not merely human, but an angel of sorts. I consider the work he does to be sacred. Jesse has grown into a 6'2", handsome young poet and performer, who uses his lungs in his work as a vocalist in the band Write Minded. I would like Dr. Janik to know how greatful we are for his intervention. Jesse literally owes him his life. And I could not imagine a life without Jesse in it. Thank you, Dr. Janik.
