About Us
Dr. Tomas Acuna is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician located at 20940 North Tatum Boulevard in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Acuna was born in Sonora, Mexico and raised in Central Phoenix. He graduated from Central High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University. He then received his Medical Degree from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine in Tucson.
After completing his Family Medicine Residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, where he served as Chief Resident, Dr. Acuna continued to work as a Faculty Ambulatory Physician at the same hospital for 3 years. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, where he mentors third-year medical students.
Dr. Acuna offers a wide range of family medicine services, with a focus on preventive care and the management of chronic illnesses such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, and men's health. He is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population.

"I am forever grateful for Dr. Acuna. Back in early June of 2021, my dad found a lump on his neck. He got an appointment with his PCP (Dr. Acuna) within a day of noticing the lump. Dr. Acuna was very proactive, scheduled my dad for radiology immediately, which later was followed up with a biopsy. For the biopsy results, we did a zoom meeting, and I sat next to my father as Dr. Acuna informed us it was in fact cancer. He was so sweet and comforting during the conversation, and already had a referral out to an oncologist. I am so grateful that he took immediate action and was so serious about the lump. I have also been a patient at Desert Ridge Family, and have always had a pleasant experience with the other physicians, but this one takes the cake. Thank you Dr. Acuna!"
