"Is dance dad a thing? 'cause if it is, it's not really something I go around advertising to people, but I guess you guys can keep my secret, right? Shhhh... As a freshly sprung adult all those years ago, I used to think, I wish there was a class for people called "don't look like an idiot on the dance floor". While I never did find and admittedly, I didn't really search for either, a class aimed at young adults who don't want to look like an idiot on the dance floor, I somehow fumbled my way through my 20s, had a child in my 30s who is now a budding primary schooler. I thought to myself, what are all the really important things in life that a man should know how to do and somehow "don't look like an idiot on the dance floor" came to mind -- so here I am. A middle aged man sitting in the waiting area of a dance studio while my grade schooler learns how to dance. Sure, he looks cool doing it, he's learning coordination, he's part of a team of kids doing something together, he's getting his energy out in a productive way, he's cart wheeling, front rolling, hand standing, back bending, stomping, popping, locking, pointing in a hip-hop-esq way but what is most important here is that when he becomes an adult, he'll be able to roll up to da club and show up all those other posers who only wish that they "didn't look like an idiot on the dance floor". No amount of best value for your money, conveniently located hip-hop, tumbling, tap, or ballet classes can even compare to the satisfaction he will have when he's in his 20s and ruling the roost. To my 21 year old son making bad decisions in life, I dedicate this review to you. Now please just let me get through these multiple days per week watching you fumble around on the dance floor trying to keep up with the kids next to you while you shake your tiny little groove thing!"
